I have been slowly trying to incorporate some of the existing foods at my house with my Zone Foods in order to cut down on my food bill a little bit.

I came across some Canned Peaches this morning, and decided to throw them in with my dinner tonight as a little dessert (I love peaches) :-)   I wasn't sure how many to add though, so I added about 1/3 of the can (just a regular sized veggie/fruit can).

The grocery additions list doesn't really address canned fruits, I assume because they're usually packed in syrup or something else horrible...But I'm curious about these since they're packed in water, and sweetened slightly with Stevia.

I also rinsed them when I took them out of the can, but I'm not really sure if that served a purpose, but I like to rinse anything that I get out of a can - ha ha.

Any idea on how many I could safely have?  The grocery additions list said 1 Medium Peach, so I was conservative and took less of these than what I thought a medium peach would equal.

    Thanks!

Jennifer, you can use the food label to determine how much of the peaches that you can have per block. Remember--each blcck of carb contains 9 grams of carbohydrate. Subtract fiber from the total carb to get the net carb. I think that the main concern with canned fruit is that they are usually packed in a syrup. Yours may be different in that they are packed in water, so maybe a little more favorable. However, since we are still dealing with a fruit that has been processed to some degree, I think I would still handle it as an unfavorable carb.

Thanks for the quick response Cat!

That is kind of what I thought regarding the canned fruit, that it is not as favorable as the fresh, but I don't want them to go to waste either just sitting in my cupboard :-)

I definitely err'd on the side of caution, and by the label it looks like I took less than the block amount...It's always hard for me to deal with adding things to the Zone 1-2-3 foods since I was soooo accustomed to using the block method, and now it's more of a calorie method. Definitely different, but working out so far.

    Thanks!

Glad it is working for you. I could never get in the Zone using the Zone foods. I had experimented with them some months back, and tried a few products again a few weeks ago...
