I have been trying to research some fish oil for my dogs, and I've found a common theme among the fish oils marketed for dogs - they contain small amounts of Omega-6 fatty acids, and Arachidonic Acids...

I know dogs are different than we are, so I thought maybe small amounts are alright for dogs?

If the amount of Omega6 is high I would avoid that one. Certain breeds are prone to arthritis. Share your OmegaRx with your dogs.

You might also look for "Omega 3 Daily" from Healthy Hide (red package), available at PetSmart stores USA, (at least the store in Nashua, NH).  It has no (or none listed) AA nor Omega 6.

Tech, what would be considered high in this particular case? The AA is listed at 1%, and the Omega-6 is listed at 3% I have not yet requested the reports from them, so I don't know exact amounts contained, but could find out. I will have to look up the one you suggested John - thanks!

Dr Sears suggests AA<3%, omega6<5%, you also must consider purity.

Good to know John, and Tech thanks for the information! I'm curious to know...How much OmegaRx would I give? I think I would order the liquid rather than the capsules because I like to put the liquid on their food. I tried giving my one dog a capsule once and instead of swallowing it, she proceeded to chew into it and take it onto the rug then spit it out and move it around - lol! What a mess... My dogs are 10lbs. and 50lbs. though, so I would imagine the dosage would be different?

If you use liquid I would recommend using an eye dropper(which will have to be replaced periodically because it get's gross). The 50 pounder would have max 1 tsp and the 10 pounder about a quarter of that. Keep an eye on their stool.

When my dog hears the capsule bottle in my hand she comes running as though it's a treat. We have to have our FO at the same time there's no way I can have mine w/o her. She knows every time. My cat on the other hand won't touch his food when I add liquid FO.

Our Labrador gets a Zone fish oil capsule every day. I drop it in her food, or sometimes just give it to her like a treat. She gobbles it up.

My dog is a chocolate lab and begs for her OmegaRx.
