I have been using protein powder to meet my protein needs. However, I have been experiencing sometimes extreme bloat and nausea. When I have soy protein, I feel sometimes weak and depleted. (makes it difficult to workout). I really love using the protein powder to supplement, but am concerned about these side-effetcs (if it is in fact, the protein powder is doing it). Has anyone else experienced these effects from protein powders and especially soy? Thanks for any feedback.

Did you try Whey instead of Soy Protein powder? I had great success with the Optimum Nutrition even if it isn't as pure as the recommended one (it's not far though: 24g of prot per 31g scoop)

Jarrow has a fairly pure Whey protein powder, as well.

I've been using the Swanson Vitamins Whey Protein lately for a protein block at lunch. Previously I was eating 2% string cheese, but now I have a 7-10g of P shake (1/2 scoop) with water with veggies & usually a Zone Fast Begal for lunch. One issue I find with Whey though is it absorbs so fast, it doesn't have as much of a satiating power, but I do appreciate the feeling it gives to aching and sore muscles, which absorb the whey abundantly to repair and restore and grow. I've also starting taking Optimum Nutrition's Gold Standard Whey which is fast absorbing for after heavier weight routines, it's denser, like 78% protein by weight, so it's idea for a post workout 8oz shake with water

maureen, I prefer Zone protein powder all others Ive tried (and I've tired a lot in the last 15 years).  You can find it here:  http://www.zonediet.com/Shop/bars-a...-more.aspx
