My 9 year old daughter's gardening class is having a vegetarian feast at 2 p.m. tomorrow.  I guess I'll eat a morning snack and make the feast my lunch.

I need to take a dish to share and I'm thinking what will be lacking is protein.

All the dishes I can think to bring would have both carbs and protein, meaning I would then have to sit at the table and pretty much only eat what I brought myself, which would be really rude considering we're supposed to enjoying the "fruits" of their harvest.

    Any ideas.

Hummus filled egg whites are a good choice. It could be the basis of your meal (provides balanced Zone favorable P, C and F) and then you could also put samples of the other dishers on your plate if you like. Have fun!

This may be a little late, but what about chili made with TVP or ground soy protein (in Canada we have Yves Ground Round, but I'm not sure if you have it in the US). Most people can't tell that it's not beef!

Depending if it's a fish-friendly vegetarian party, a shrimp ring is also an easy and good party favourite.
