Yes, you can Barb. You goal is to eliminate hunger. If you're hunger 4 hours after a Zonebalanced meal, it indicates you need to adjust the amount of carbohydrate. If you have focused hunger you'd add 1 carbohydrate block to each meal, and if you have unfocused hunger you'd drop 1 carbohydrate block from each meal.

. It explains about hunger in more detail than in other Zone books, and it shows you how to eliminate hunger.
