I'm in the Northeast where those heat waves have been unrelenting this summer. I've been living the Zone lifestyle for many years. My raspberry fruit popsicles, one of my favorite cool-down foods, also happens to fit into the Zone Diet very well. I blend slightly thawed frozen raspberries, plain yogurt and a little alcohol free almond extract, and then freeze them in popsicle molds. They have a low glycemic load and are a good source of polyphenols, not to mention they're delicious!
What are some of your favorite Zone friendly summertime cool-down foods? |

I've been having this a lot lately:
frozen berries (blueberries or raspberries... enough for about 1.5 blocks) 1/4 c. low fat cottage cheese 2/3 tsp olive oil (or 6 almonds on the side to replace the fat) 1 tsp cocoa powder 1/4 c water for blending
Process until smooth. Yum!

Hi folks, after years of reliable use, our blender quit (UGH!), today!!! I am very happy with our Braun MX2050. But just curious if there is another blender we might also look at to replace it? If you have a good sturdy (Not $400+ Vita-Mix type!!!) blender, and it also crushes ice, is easy to clean, and reliable and sturdy - please feel free to share .... Thanks. |
