I started supplementing with soy protein powder over a week ago and think it is the cause for my severe stomach cramps and bloat. I actually switched brands to see if that was the problem, but still no luck. I'm really upset about it since I like it very much. My husband, who is not a big fan of soy, sent me the following article: http://www.utne.com/2007-07-01/Scie...f-Soy.aspx The women there writes "After years of consuming various forms of soy nearly every day, I felt reasonably fit, but somewhere along the line I'd stopped menstruating. I couldn't figure out why my stomach became so upset after I ate edamame or why I was often moody and bloated. It didn't occur to me at the time to question soy, heart protector and miracle food." I too lost my period a while ago having been a big soy milk drinker but never was sick or bloated. But now I am, due to the potein powder, I believe. I just wondered if anyone else has any experiences like this or any thoughts on the matter. Thanks.

    Hi maureen,

I haven't had that experience, but I have tried a lot of protein powders, always finding soy powders to be unpalatable. The protein powder that works best for me is the one sold on this website. Jay Robb's egg white protein powder is another one we used to like, but stopped using because it had a sort of artificial taste.

You've probably already decided this, but I'd say stop eating it if it's making you sick. You could probably even get a refund if you return  it to where you purchased it and explain the circumstances. I hope you feel better soon.

I recently started having problems with Jay Robb unflavored egg white protein powder.  It makes me sick to my stomach every time i eat it.  I finally had to stop using it.  I don't know what i'm reacting to, because i can still eat eggs just fine.  Weird.

I like Protrin Powders made of Vegetable proteins.
That's my only source of protein and it has all the amminop acids so it's a complete protein. Flavor is good too.
I'm not big on cooking either so my meals are veggies from frozen cooked in the microwave and some fruit.
I try not to over do the fruit because of insulin spikes.
Non-starchy vegs and plant based protein powders....all balanced works for me.

I use Jarrow's Natural Whey: inexpensive, only few ingredients, no additives, chemicals, etc.
and minimally processed. Plus added benefit of some BCAA's.
    And comes unflavored, too!

I like MRM's vanilla egg and their vanilla whey protein. It's sweetened with stevia.

Comments about ZoneLabs Dr. Sears Zone Protein Powder:

Best protein powder I have tried! It mixes in great and does not leave a chalky aftertaste. I mix it is shakes and in my oatmeal without changing the taste. Highly recommended

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

My one brand (from Walmart) of s.p.i. drink mix only hurt my stomach once and that was when I drank it very cold and very fast. I love that stuff. Tastes even better than the brand of whey protien powder i sometimes drink.
