I was looking at my grocery additions list again yesterday, and noticed "Snow Peas" on there, and it states no pod. I usually order my frozen veggies & fruits(asparagus, broccoli, green beans, strawberries, blueberries, etc.) from Schwan's. I went to their web site to see if they had snow peas, but the only ones I came up with were these: http://www.schwans.com/products/pro...yword=peas It looks like they have 8g of insulin stimulating carbs though, so surely these are not it? or are they? I also found these, which have 5g of net carbs...But they have a pod? http://www.schwans.com/products/pro...yword=peas Just curious what the difference between peas are :-) I really like them, but thought they were not Zone friendly, although I'm not very carb sensitive usually with any veggies.

Interesting question. I have no idea how yu'd get the peas out of the snow pea pods. The actual pea itself is very tiny. I always thought the pod was the veggie in the case of snow peas.

Jennifer, it might be an error because if you look at the raw veggie list on the same page it says "Snow Peas (1 cup whole)".

Hi Jennifer, Sorry for the confusion, that's an error. Where did your grocery additions list come from? I need to correct that distribution.

FYI I've eaten snow peas as part of a fresh fruit tray lunch size with carrots & celery with a bagel & I was well zoned for 5 hours. It was about 1/3 cup of snowpeas in shell raw organic

    Hi Tech Support,

The snow pea listing Jennifer mentioned can be found in the flyer that's packed with Zone food orders ("Zone Living Easy as 1-2-3") and also on the "Grocery Additions" page of this website.

    Tech,

I received my new shipment of Zone foods today, and Sue is correct - the "1/3 Cup edible peas, no pods" is on the "Zone Living Easy as 1-2-3" Trifold Grocery additions list that was packed with my foods.

    Hope this helps!

I assume the pods are okay since the raw listing states they can be whole and it sounds like snow peas are very small?

I know from gardening that if snow peas are picked when they should - they are almost flat - the "pea" has not developed.  These are called edible-pod peas also.

However, if you wait too long, the peas start to develop.  They are snow peas, but are different.  At that time, we usually do not eat the pods because they are then more fibrous.

There are also "snap" peas, which are also an edible pod pea, you eat the whole pod.

    Hope this helps.
