I've been trying various recipes from the Zone books and find that several call for the addition of Apple Fiber Powder.  Is this for thickening or simply added fiber?  Could I substitute a high quality fiber product such as Konsyl in it's place?

From NOW Foods "Apple Fiber Powder:
Apple Fiber can be taken directly or mixed with liquids or powder blends. Mix one tablespoon powder with 12 oz. or more juice and drink quickly. Apple fiber is an excellent source of dietary fiber, including: 25% soluble and 75% insoluble.

    1 TBSP = 9g Carbs, 4g Fiber = 5g Net Carbs
Sugars (of the net 5g Carbs) = 4g
    .
I am not sure why those recipes call for it - unless for the natural sugar content as a sweetener?
For fiber, I would use Inulin and for sweetener I would use Stevia.

    Maybe Sue would know.....

Judy, you could leave the apple fiber out if it's one of the recipes I'm thinking of.
