    Hello,

    I am a 26 year old guy, weigh about 198lbs, 5'10". My diet up until 2 months ago was horrendous. I am a senior in medical school and the first 4 months of 2010 were intense and left me with no time to really get to the gym and I got lazy with my diet and went with convenience. I like my weight at 185lbs, but really I just wanna lose fat, don't care about how much I weigh. I'll be measuring by BF% soon when my calipers are delivered, but 2 years ago I was 190lbs and 12% fat, but I can say for a fact that I am probably pushing near 20% now, and almost entirely in my abdomen. I have fairly lean legs and arms. Anyways, I have been reading about the Zone for some time and decided it's what I wanted to try. Last month I went low-carb, but it was not for me. It left me with no energy in the hospital and my work suffered, as have my workouts (I am doing CrossFit and love it).

    I switched to a split closer to the 30-30-40 zone split and this week I have been destroying my crossfit workouts. My buddy and my trainer have both asked me what I have been doing differently this week because I am a new person in the gym. Funny what fueling your body can do.

    This is my diet from yesterday, I pretty much followed the same exact thing today.

    715AM: 400cal, 9g fat, 38g carbs, 40g prot
    6 egg whites (~290g)
    0.4 tbsp olive oil
    Kashi cereal
    Coffee, black

    1030AM: 205 / 16f / 9c / 18p
    1 peach
    9 almonds
    2 string cheese

    1215PM: 554 / 18f / 46c / 56p
    Quinoa (46g)
    Chicken breast, broiled 5oz
    9 black olives
    Asparagus
    Grape tomatos
    Green tea

    315PM: 343 / 11f / 44c / 19p
    Blueberries (120g)
    Kashi oatmeal cookie
    Greek Yogurt (Dannon fat free)
    9 almonds

    4PM: Workout
    21, 15, 9 reps of 95lb Cleans, body-weight ring dips --> 15:58

    615PM: 550 / 26f / 44c / 39p
    5oz Chum Salmon (wild caught)
    Broccoli, steamed (2 cups)
    Avocado (1/2)
    Blueberries (40g)
    Grape tomatos
    Salsa
    Green tea

    TOTALS:
    2,040 cals,
    77.2g Fat --> 33%
    182.7g Carbs --> 34%
    172.3g Protein --> 33%

    Questions I have--is 1 fat block equal to 1.5g fat or 3.0g fat? I am open to any and all suggestions. I may make my morning meal with 2 whole eggs and 2-3 whites.

    Also, what supplements do you reccomend?

    Diet looks, good to me, maybe more carbs, but if you feel good, i think your fine. But I'm not a professional.

    I've read that if your protein contains some fat, like chicken or beef, they recommend the 1.5g per block...since that allots for the fat in the meat. If you eat egg whites for your protein for example, it's a non fatty protein, so you should add 3g of fat per block.

    Hope that helps.

    I would suggest you try the ZoneFast 1-2-3 2 week mens kit and try to discipline your diet to get the right carbs. You're light on those.

    I would suggest 4 caps of OmegaRx per day with 1oz of sea health plus. Unless you eat fish every day known to be free of ocean contaminants such as Dioxin & Mercury. The sea health is a good emulsifier of the FO

    Have you looked into eGCG? There is a product on the supplements page here and other sources online. It's worked for me along with the Macronutrient support.

    So far I'm 20 days in The Zone and have lost 10.5 lbs but I do 45 min of heavy interval cardio every day and drink 100 oz of h2o to keep properly hydrated.
    Before in April at 245 napping

    Now at 208 and looking 10 years younger Photobucket
    I love the Zone!
