I was so excited, my foods finally arrived. I paid for 2nd Day shipping, however, it took FedEx 3 days to deliver...lol Go figure.

Nonetheless, I opened the box as soon as it arrived, everything looks soooo delicious! Only one casualty - My one poor Orzo must have busted open and had scattered itself all over the bottom of the box...Customer Service was wonderful though, and they'll be sending me an extra pack of Orzo on my next Auto Ship.

As for eating the food, I thought I knew how everything worked since I've been reading a lot of information here, but I'm now a bit confused...

After doing some more reading today and looking at the nutrition labels on the foods, it seems like most things are 2 blocks on their own...Except for the Flatbreads and Pizza Crusts. Is that right?

If so...This has been my day so far, and what I have planned out for the rest:

B: Zone Shake, made with 8oz. of 2% Milk

    S: 1/2 Brownie

L: Sandwich Roll w/ Sesame Seeds, 1oz. Lean Turkey, 1/2 tbsp Yellow Mustard, 5 Green Olives, 1 Block of Green Beans

D: Garlic Bagel, 1 tsp Light Cream Cheese, 1 oz. of Lean Chicken, 1 block of Strawberries

    S: 1/2 Brownie

I'm currently trying to get my 11 blocks in, so I think this works?

I am just curious about if I'm getting my additions correct. I kind of based them off of the grocery additions list and what I can have.

Another thing I'm curious about, one of the Zone reps emailed me the 2 week ZoneFast meal ideas even though I didn't end up ordering the 2 week zone fast program...I'm curious if there are recipes for those? Like what exactly is in the Granola Strawberry Parfait? It sounds good...But is there yogurt? Whole strawberries? Strawberry Yogurt? lol - I wasn't sure

I apologize for this being so long, but appreciate any help/advice! Thanks in advance

    Hi Jennifer,

I'm pretty new to the Zone 1-2-3 foods as well, but our first week came with a little recipe book. However, think the same recipes are available on this site under the Tools menu. The one you mentioned is Crunchy Strawberry Parfait. It's pretty good -- especially with the peanut butter granola.

    Hi Phil!

Thank you for the feedback - I actually only received one little piece of paper in mine that mentioned that I should put the bread products into the fridge or freezer depending on how fast I would consume them.

I had the Peanut Butter Granola this morning with a small glass of milk...I definitely liked it. I would definitely be interested in trying it (or even some of my regular granola) in the Crunchy Strawberry Parfait!

I'm still having a bit of confusion as far as how the recipes with what I need to be adding to the Zone 1-2-3 meals.

For instance, this morning I wanted to make myself the Crunchy Strawberry Parfait.

On the grocery additions page it states that the 2% Yogurt can be "(Natural or Greek)"

I substituted nonfat greek yogurt in for the 2% because that is what was in my fridge and figured I would add a little fat, so here is what I had:

Peanut Butter Granola has 7g Fat, 21g Carb, 14g Protein, so 2F/2C/2P Blocks
Nonfat Greek Yogurt 1/2 cup has 0g F, 6g Carb, 15g Protein, so 0F/.6C/2P Blocks
4 Strawberries (since there were only 4 smaller strawberries, I figured these as negligible)
I used Stevia as a sweetner instead of Agave Nectar

    Total Blocks = 2F/2.6C/4P

Obviously I planned on adding more fat, but I had originally only planned on adding 1 block of Fat, but when I saw that I had 4P and only 2.6C...I was a little concerned because that seemed fairly unbalanced.

I ended up adding a few more items to my breakfast in order to have a 4 Block Meal, but I was curious about how big of a difference in blocks matters?

I looked at a previous container label that I had from some Chobani 2% Yogurt and it has 2.5g Fat, 4.5g Carb, and 11 Protein in 1/2 Cup....So slightly different than my nonfat, but it would still make the meal 3F/2.5C/3.5P - is a 1 block difference between C and P too big, or is it negligible?

I guess I'm just more concerned on if I should be paying more attention to the "recipes" or if I should really still be trying to make sure these meals are zoned. Unfortunately I don't want to eat just 2 slices of bread for a 2 Block meal because that's just not tasty - lol
