Hi, I am new to the Zone Diet and wondered the measurement/size of certain fruits. Since apples come in many sizes what is the "right" size of an apple per the Zone Diet book. Also for fruits like Strawberries and Pineapple how do you measure a cupful. Does it matter how you dice them up as this will determine how many strawberries fit in a cup. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated |

It isn't important to be exact, but if you want to be, then you can check out nutritional information on www.nutritiondata.com. Use the nutritional information to get an idea of serving sizes... the most accurate way to measure would be weighing your food, if you desire to be exact. |

As Cran said, it's not important to be super exact. I remember years ago going to Weight Watchers, and the leader specifically talking about measuring strawberries. She said, if it's a cup, then get in as many as you can! She laughed about fitting them together like a puzzle in the cup. Sometimes I even add an extra one over the cup, just to feel like I'm getting more of a treat... seriously, it's one strawberry! For apples, I happen to prefer Gala, which are on the smaller side anyway. Pick an apple for its taste rather than its size and try not to worry about it too much. Things I'm more careful about are protein and fat measurements. |

Hi all -- I'm also an ex-WW many times over (and I guess that tells you something, seeing as how I was never able to maintain the weight loss). I still weigh and measure my food when possible, but one of my goals is to be able to move away from being so obsessive about it, and use more of the hand/eye method. I'm not there yet, but working on it :-) .

So looking at this from a weight point of view the serving size of an apple at nutritiondata.com is 125g. So a Zone block would be half an apple or 62.5g . |
