I do apologize if if this has been addressed before but this questions keeps coming to mind. If I eat a bagel for breakfast it has 2 blocks of each in it. So, why am I not adding another block of each to that meal if it is only two and I usually eat three block meals? When I am mixing these foods in with my other zone meals, how do I count the superfoods..as 2 blocks or 3? I am thinking that if I count them as 2, I could eat more than I am supposed to if the rest of my meals are from regular zone meals and count as three blocks each. So, technically, do the superfoods cover the 3 blocks and if so, why are they only 2 block meals. I am kind of confused. It is easy to figure if I eat all superfoods, but I can't. I hope this makes sense to someone here who can answer this. Thanks! |

Hi kimberly,
If you want to go strictly by counting blocks you can consider the packets of Zone breads, bagels, rolls, cookies, etc. to be 2 balanced blocks, and the larger items (pastas and pizzas) to be 4 blocks each. You can either add an ounce of protein and fruits, veggies and monounsaturated fat to the 2 block meals to yield 3 blocks, or you can adjust one of your meals during the day to make up for it, or even add an extra snack to your day. |

That is what I needed to know. Maybe if I add another block of each to my zone foods when I eat them, I won't be so hungry so soon! |

kimberly, don't hesitate to experiment a little within the parameters of the Zone principles, to see what works best for you. Good luck! :-) |
