    Hi there,
Can someone tell me how many blocks are in a pizza base? Is it 4 or 5 of Protein, Carb and fat?
    Thanks!

Hi Victoria -- the Zone pizza crust is 4 balanced Protein, Carb and Fat blocks (4P/4C/4F).

Detailed nutritional information can be found on this page (copy and paste into your browser's address bar):

    http://www.zonediet.com/Shop/zone-f...inner.aspx

Scroll down to "Pizza Crust" (either Multigrain or White, whichever one you have) and then click on the words "Facts, Ingredients and Details".

    Hope this helps :-) !

    Thank you! This does help.
I just wondered as the amount says 45grams of carbs with 2g being dietary fiber (43gms to count) And I thought one block is 9grams, which means this is in fact 7 grams over 4 blocks. Wow, confusing! Does that make sense?

By the way, I absolutely LOVE the bagels! I live in New Zealand and am so sad that I cannot get them shipped to me all the time !

Hi Victoria -- yes, you're right -- the grams don't convert exactly to the 4 blocks, but I have read on these boards that we should consider the pizza crust as 4 balanced blocks :-) .

    Hi Victoria,

Laurie's correct that one Zone pizza crust can be considered a balanced 4 block item. Keep in mind that you do not need to be specific to the gram in order to have a P/C balance in the range of the Zone (between .6 and 1). The P/C of a Zone pizza crust is .7 (30 g ptotein/43 g insulin stimulating carbohydrate).

As long as we are talking pizza here, I'm wondering if I can use some tomato sauce as the base, then add onions, shrooms, cheese, etc. Then say, if I thought I needed a little dessert, can I eat 1/2 an apple with that meal? Does it work to not really "balance" my meal, as long as I am keeping my grocery add ons consistent with what the chart calls for on a daily basis?

    angie,

You should do fine adding sone tomato sauce, and veggies to your Zone pizza crust along with a little cheese, as long as you keep it in line with amounts shoun on the Grocery Additions page. You won't be makeing it unbalanced because you won't be adding a significant amount of veggies and sauce. The most carbohydrate impact on you blood sugar will be from the 1/2 apple, and the cheese will most likley balance it (unless you are very sensitive to carbohydrate and find the apple to be too much).

Thanks so much for chiming in Sue, I've noticed you haven't posted much lately, but I see you are on vk. (hope you are having a great time!) I wanted to let you know I've been zoning for a few years off and on. It goes in spurts, so I have trouble keeping my momentum going, then all of a sudden, comes the zone 123 products! I was so skeptical at first, but after reading about all of your success and basically figuring out "why" I can't seem to not "cheat" when I'm trying to follow the original plan, I went ahead and ordered the 2 week supply. I must say, the products are delicious! I do have questions that come up now and then and I feel that you are the "go-to" gal on these products. I try to add lots of vegies to the bread, bagels, and wraps to fill me up, but maybe a fruit from the list along with the meal might throw me off track? Also, when I'm hungry when preparing dinner, I might have 6 almonds, (also from the list) would that be too much fat with the meal? Thanx in advance for all of your sage advice!

    Hi angie,

I'm having so much fun on vacation, thanks! In the morning I'm taking my 18 month old grandson to his music class (if I can manage to find my way there, lol!). The 6 almonds sound fine. Most likely you'll eventually find you're not getting hungry with the 1-2-3 foods (don't you love them!).

Adding a little fruit here and there should be ok, depending on how sensitive you are to carbohydrates. I'm very carb sensitive, and have done very well, even being able to add orange sections to dished and feel fine afterward. That's something I could never do with traditional meals and still manage to stay in the Zone. Berries work well for me too. One of my favorite breakfasts is Zone granola with berries and unsweetened chocolate soy milk. For more ideas, take a look at my 1-2-3 meals photo album in my signature.
