Hi all. I'm starting the zone diet this week and was wondering if I can add things such as wheat germ, flax seed and/or chia seeds to the breakfasts? My wife and I are just starting out on this diet and want to make sure we stick to it as closely as possible. Thanks for the help!

My wife and I eat Chia seeds! However, be careful of the fat content - not to overdo it.
Flax Seed inefficiently converts to Omaga-3's.
Wheat Germ would be a Carb, unfavorable - I think; however, there might be enough fiber to reduce net Carbs to minimal.
No more than 1/4 or so unfavorable carbs per meal/snack.
A 4 block meal would allow 1 block unfav carbs.

Wheat Germ's fat content consists of 88% Omega6, use sparingly. Flax seed consists of short chain Omega3(ALA) which is converted by the body to long chain Omega3, a very inefficient process resulting in very little EPA.
