Did I read the Zone 1-2-3 program right? Only add fresh vegetables for a perfect meal? Does that mean the Zone 1-2-3 foods contain all your protein blocks most of your carb blocks and all of your fat blocks? No added meat/fish/cheese protein when you eat? The starter plan has some product for every meal. Two weeks with buying/cooking/eating any protein? Or fat?
    Cheers

YES, you did read correctly. It is a full balanced program (I have yet to try.) And it is more than just balanced and hormonally controlled. I just read in another article (Not by Dr. Sears) how we benefit more from nutrients entering our system through the small intestine (short simplified version). But how most foods are absorbed through the large intestine. The new ZoneFast foods (1-2-3 program) are not only hormonally balanced, but supposedly work to this nutritional benefit.

    Hi Cleo,

Yes the ZoneFast foods contain the protein, carbohydrate and fat for the meal in Zone balanced proportions. Think of the ZoneFast foods as new ingredients for your Zone meals. With these foods you can have a pizza, a plateful of pasta, or a sandwich and you can stay in the Zone! The Grocery Additions page in the WEIGHT LOSS tab shows the types and amounts of foods you can add to ZoneFast foods and still stay in the Zone. You'll see on the page that up to an ounce of protein can be added to any meal if you wish to. You can also add fruit, veggies, and dairy if you want. Adding those kinds of very low glycemic load veggies within the limits suggested will not have much of an effect on the P/C ratio of the meal, but they will make meals fun and even more delicious. I like to add these foods to my ZoneFast meals. It gives an endless variety of meals. For examples of how I've been eating with the ZoneFast plan you can check out my two ZoneFast journal threads here:
