Hiya All :D I found out about CLA not long ago through a Gary Null Video. He stated that it was useful in burning fat and building muscle when combined with workouts. I ignore the majority of Bodybuilding nonsense supplements out there but this one (and one other that I've posted) has caught my attention. Gary Null is very well known and I've read a few of his books and watched his video's. He is VERY discriminating when it comes to health and nutrition so I've always taken the time to research supplements that he recommends. While searching for published medical info I stumbled across this website. http://www.sndcanada.com/gc/gc_item...s&Z9=0 It turns out that EAS is one of the few companies currently selling CLA. EAS is another well known and trusted name so my curiousity is even greater now. If anyone has any links to Published Medical reports about CLA I would greatly appreciate if they could post them. I've read The Zone and the OmegaRX Zone and Dr. Sears hasn't mentioned CLA in either one. CLA is still an Omega 6 Oil and in the Zone we must only consume very small amounts of these Oils (GLA supplementation). This is why I need more info. Thanks all and stay strong.[/color:eaa6275e46]

I know I've read Dr. Sears opinion on this. If you do asearch of drsears.com you'll probably find it. I think it was in an old "Ask Dr. Sears".[/color:81a966d9d4]

I registered as a member on the main website and searched for "CLA". The search found close to a dozen posts specifically on CLA. Here is a quote from the most recent post that was there (9 months ahead the 2nd most recent post). This post is dated 2003-10-28 "I was initially very enthusiastic about CLA and weight loss. However, that enthusiasm has been strongly curbed by recent studies demonstrating that CLA induces insulin resistance in humans and causes fatty livers in animals. Based on this new data, I would not recommend CLA at this time." Dr. Barry Sears And here is more bad news from a post dated from 2001-02-22. "It works by inhibiting the delta 5 and delta 6 desaturase enzyme needed to make essential fatty acids. This means that [b:86e93224c0]both EPA and DHA[/b:86e93224c0], along with arachidonic acid (AA) [b:86e93224c0]would be inhibited[/b:86e93224c0]. This is like throwing the baby out with the bath water. It makes more sense to inhibit AA by taking high dose fish oil that simultaneously supplies EPA and DHA." Dr. Barry Sears Unfortunetly the Cons outweigh the Pros for CLA supplementation based on the evidence atm. :(

Liquid ~ Thanks so much for posting the information you found on CLA. I've been debating on whether I should consume it. Since I trust Dr. Sears, I won't bother with it now.
