I'm 6'1 240 lbs, fairly muscular, and have about 20% bodyfat. My wellness is above average, even though i'm alil over weight because i've been a competitive athlete in some shape or form my whole life. I'm curious if anyone(Sue K!) can give me a ball park dosage. not sure if my bp will tell yo anything, but mine was 120/70 last time was checked. I had surgery in january and the doc was shocked because i'm slightly overweight and my bp never went over 130/80, and my heart rate stayed between 58 and 41, even after i was opperated on. so i believe those were signs of me being in good shape going into surgery. I'm recovering for the next 4months or so, and am just trying lean up alil and stay in some sort of shape while recovering, which i believe is possible with proper dieting and such. Thanks.

    Hi josh,

Best wishes for an excellent recovery!

The amount of Omega Rx you'd take daily depends upon your degree of wellness. It's explained in the most recent Zone book, TOXIC FAT, as follows (grams refer to total amount of EPA and DHA combined). (Being overweight, you'd take 8 capsules of a Zone fish oil concentrate daily, unless you also have additional concerns.)

To maintain wellness, 2.5 g/day (4 caps; 1 teaspoon liquid).
For overweight, obesity, type 2 diabetes, or before starting a diet, 5 g/day (8 caps; 2 teaspoons liquid).
For chronic pain, 7.5 g/day (12 caps; 3 teaspoons liquid).
For existing neurological conditions 10 g/day (16 caps; 4 teaspoons liquid).

josh, you're welcome! You would take at least 8 capsules of Omega Rx (5g. combined EPA and DHA). If you have chronic pain or neurological concerns from the surgeries (or other causes) increase according to the info in my previous post. BTW, fish oil dosage is referred to in terms of the combined amount of EPA and DHA. 8 capsules of Omega Rx contain 8g of total oil, but 5g of combined EPA and DHA.

The Zone diet with Zone fish oil and Sea Health Plus is an excellent plan for decreasing inflammation. Best results will be achieved by eliminating as much Omega 6 fat as you can from your diet, and by lowering insulin as much as possible. The lowest insulin levels will result from strict adherence to the diet, while eating most of you carbohydrates from Zone favorable veggies. Berries are best fruit for the Zone, for those low insulin levels.
