I heard lots of good staff about the zone diet, but since I live in China, was afraid lots of things I could not get to follow the diet.

I want to buy 1-2 books to educate myself as a start, but with so many books. Can someone tell me which one is practical and easiest to follow as a start. I need suggestions like prepare food on my own. My current diet is tons fruits and veg., I don't eat much meat and concerned my protein and fat intake might not be enough.

Thank you very much in advance for your suggestion.

    Hong,

I'd start with TOXIC FAT to get the whole picture. THE SOY ZONE might also be a good book for you to read.

As for what to eat, it sounds like the biggest adjustment to your current diet will be adding some protein to your meals and snacks. The best sources for you will probably be fish, poultry, tofu and egg whites. You can get a good ideas on the best types of veggies and fruit to eat by looking at the Zone Food Blocks list (refer to the tab here: http://www.zonediet.com/EATING/Quic...ault.aspx) Try to make sure most of the fat you add to meals is monounsaturated fat (see the best fats listed in the Zone Food Blocks list.

You'll like the Zone a lot. Good luck!

    Hi Hong,

The best book to get started is A Week In The Zone. It explains the Zone, is small & portable, there are a week's worth of recipes, it even tells you how to order in and dine out in the zone. Check it out.
