Hello everybody, I am pretty new to this Zone diet. I am competitive judo player who is currently on hiatus because of an injury. I plan to compete at 73kg and under (160.6 lbs) so my goal is to lose my pot belly and love handles but I am having a devil of a time doing so. I started out at 179 in early April. With high intensity exercise and lean chicken and veggies (not zone diet), I was able to drop all the way down to 166 in 7 weeks. However seeing this gut sticking out is just plain unattractive. There are so many Zone books out there. I am not sure which to buy. Which book would you guys recommend for an athlete? Thanks for your help, Laurent

Which one(s) you choose depends upon how much you'd like to know about the Zone "A Week in the Zone" will give you an overall view and all the basics you need to get into the Zone. "The Anti-Aging Zone" (have heard it is also under the title "The Age-Free Zone") gives you all the science behind the Zone (a lot of technical detail), which might give you a lot of valuable info, being an athlete. "The Omega RX Zone" I consider a must for every Zoner to read. "Zone Meals in Seconds" the most recent book, has a different way of presenting the same basic Zone info, which I think is a bit easier for a beginner to pick up on than past books. It's is loaded with a lot of new ideas as to delicious, quick, and easy ways to put together a Zone meal, which also gives the book appeal to long-time Zoners. Hope you injury is not too serious and that your recovery goes well.[/color:ae6cf1c58c]

Slknorr, Thanks for you recommendations. I had a chance to go to the book store and look at the four titles you mentioned. I came away satisfied with "a Week in the Zone." My injury is a sprained medial collateral ligament (MCL) of my right knee. I plan to be back in judo in about 3 months. Thanks again, Laurent
