Does anyone know what a block of pumpernickel or rye bread is, and if it is ok on the zone? |

You will have to figure it out on the label of the package. Generally it is 1/2 slice per block of carb, and this is an unfavorable carb (so use it in condiment portions, not as the main source of carb in the meal). |

Usually 1/2 slice is one block. It's unfavorable carbohydrate for the Zone. |

It is unfavorable, but is included in several of his books, including Toxic Fat, Chapter 13, recipes for Anti-inflammatory Meals. Also mentioned as ingredients in his recipes are corn tortillas, mini pita pockets, and even crushed tortilla chips only used as 1 block though. |

Hi Nicole, As mentioned, keep in mind bread is unfavorable. When shopping look at all the lables closely - you will find alot of variations in the carb content. Pick the lowest then you can enjoy more favorable carbs along w/ protein & fat for your(Carb grams-fiber)9C/7P/1.5F block. |
