Anyone have any suggestions on hospital food? I know it all is terrible, but they push the high carb / low fat diets. I hope I don't have to go, but in the event that it might happen, now is the time to have a plan.

My first thougths are to Bring Your Own Food. that takes someone on the "outside" to help which may or may not be available. My second thought, if it is not an emergency, I could plan my meals for the estimated time of stay plus a two days to allow for contingencies. If it is an emergency, we're at their mercy. Hopefully I can speak for myself.

Anyway food - for thought. LOL

Your best bet may be to request a diabetic diet. These days, diabetics are counting carbs, and so at least you will have an idea of the carb content of your meal.

Another idea is to tell them what you don't eat. Then, at least they won't provide those foods to you, and then you can eyeball what they bring you.

No worries FG. At many hospitals these days, you order you own meals a-la-carte from quite a good selection. I've had more than my share of hospital stays, and I haven't had problems getting Zone favorable meals.

Many hospitals do offer alacarte ordering; however, many do not, so one needs to be prepared. In addition, if one is not in any condition to be worrying about choosing foods, one would want to be able to communicate his/her dietary needs so that proper decisions can be made.
