Hi Everyone! I've just begun my 4th month of using the ZoneFast foods and program. I've had an amazing past few months. It's so much fun and the Zone has never been easier or more delicious! As many of you know, I've been 'in the Zone’ for the past 15 years (I lost 100 pounds and I’ve kept it off). Much to my surprise, ZoneFast has taken things to new heights. I've become even leaner over the past few months and I'm feeling fantastic. I'll be posting entries from my ZoneFast journal here. It would be fun to hear about your ZoneFast experiences too, so please feel free to comment, make suggestions and ask questions. Have a great day! |

I had fun trying some new meals today. They were inspired by a couple of items I picked up this morning. I found myself with a little free time stop into Whole Foods Market, while waiting for a friend I had driven to her medical appointment. Here my journal entry for today. Mon. 2.01.10 B: 2 slices toasted cinnamon swirl loaf with a sliver of butter melted on top walk S: Granola Lunch: 1/2 recipe Roma Broccoli and Fusilli Salad; easy and very tasty! The recipe is in my ZoneFast recipe thread here: http://www.zonediet.com/Community/F...fault.aspx S: brownie; it's still amazing to me that I can eat these delicious brownies and stay in the Zone so well! I love to eat these frozen. They’re chewier that way. :-) Vestibular PT exercises.1 Yoga; played my favorite Tibetan music CD for this hour of yoga, with the lights low. It's very renewing and relaxing. Great for stress reduction. :-) Dinner: Spicy Nachos (bagel chips); the recipe is in my ZoneFast recipe thread. A very yummy dinner! S: sesame pretzel, warmed in the microwave, with a little Dijon Spread; the recipe is in my ZoneFast recipe thread Vestibular PT exercises.2 |

I had a very hectic day today. Fortunately I was able to fit my all of my exercise in around lunch and dinner. Thanks to the convenience of the new Zone foods, my meals were a snap and I easily stayed in the Zone. Even after 3 months of eating these foods, I'm still constantly surprised by how easy it is. And, they all taste so good, too! Today's journal entry... Tues. 2.02.10 B: granola and a little WestSoy Chocolate Unsweetened Soy Milk S: 1 Milk Chocolate Chunk Cookie S: 1/2 package Granola Vestibular PT exercises.1 Lunch: ½ recipe Roasted Mushroom and Artichoke Salad, contains orzo (this s fast and easy, and really delicious!); you can find the recipe here: http://www.zonediet.com/Community/F...fault.aspx Strength training Walk S: Lemon hummus sandwich (2 slices toasted multigrain bread, 2 T hummus and 1 huge tomato slice; if you haven't tried this yet, you should sometime. It's very tasty and filling, good for either a snack or a meal. Vestibular PT exercises.2 Yoga Dinner: 1 pretzel, warmed in the microwave, with Trader Joe’s Almond butter with Roasted Flax Seeds, and 1/3 container Trader Joe’s fresh made low fat Chicken, Barley and Vegetable Soup S: 2 Heath Bar Toffee Cookies. I love to heat these in the microwave, and then nibble on them while I watch TV (the last season of LOST is on now!). |

Hi Everyone! Today was another busy day, and a very productive one. It began with the opportunity to review and adjust my supplement program with my endocrinologist. It was an early appointment, an hour and a half away in a mini snowstorm during morning rush hour (what luck, huh?). :-) No worries though. The new Zone food is so fast and easy I was able to leave very early and had time to spare. One of the things I really like about eating with the ZoneFast plan is I don’t need to plan ahead for meals and snacks anymore. :-) Here’s my journal entry for today. Wed., 2.03.2010 B: 2 slices cinnamon swirl loaf, toasted; one with a little melted butter, the other with Trader Joe’s Almond Butter with Roasted Flax Seeds S: 1 package of granola Lunch: ½ recipe Roma Broccoli and Fusilli Salad. I made it with ½ package of fusilli and about ¾ to 1 cup of salad. The recipe is in my ZoneFast recipe thread here: http://www.zonediet.com/Community/F...fault.aspx">http://www.zonediet.com/Community/F...fault.aspx S: 1 M&M cookie S: 1 M&M cookie Dinner: ½ recipe Roasted Mushroom and Artichoke Salad, contains Orzo. I used about 1 cup salad, ½ package orzo and regular (dark) organic balsamic vinegar, and I served it on a bed of baby spinach leaves. It fills the entire dinner plate and is a very satisfying meal. You can find the recipe here: http://www.zonediet.com/Community/F...fault.aspx">http://www.zonediet.com/Community/F...fault.aspx Vestibular PT exercises.1 Yoga S: Cinnamon Bun, sliced in half across the middle (as you’d slice a sandwhich bun), toasted, and spread with a little light cream cheese |

Another day of delicious meals in the Zone today! Th. 2.04.10 I had the most amazing pizza for dinner tonight! It’s the first time I’ve really enjoyed eating a pizza that didn’t have tomato sauce on it. It’s so good, I think I’ll add it to my Zone fast recipe thread here. The Milk Chocolate Chunk Cookies after dinner were like the frosting on the cake! B: a bowl of Zone granola, raspberries and WestSoy Chocolate Unsweetened Soy Milk Yoga class S: ½ Zone cinnamon bun Vestibular PT exercises Lunch: toasted Zone multigrain bagel, with lemon hummus, tomato slices and a little bit of Trader Joe’s Olive tapenade. S: ½ package of Zone plain bagel chips with Smoked Salmon pate from Trader Joe’s S: ½ Zone Chocolate Brownie, warmed in the microwave Aerobics followed by strength training Vestibular PT exercises Dinner: ½ Zone pizza: sliced mushrooms, Trader Joe’s Marinated Grilled Eggplant and Zucchini (a frozen veggie selection, actually a product of Italy), sun dried tomato strips, a little finely minced fresh garlic, a sprinkle of grated parmesan cheese, some oregano and fresh ground pepper and a little bit of Himalayan pink sea salt; drizzled with Zone olive oil after it came out of the oven. This is the best pizza! S: 2 Zone Milk Chocolate Chunk Cookies warmed in the microwave |

(MEL RAISING HER HAND WITH YET ANOTHER QUESTION!) LOL
SUE...I PLACED THE ORDER FOR THE 2 WEEK PROGRAM AND ALSO FOR BARS AND SHAKES. I AM GETTING THE GO AHEAD FROM THE DR TO DO WHAT I WANT FOODWISE. SO THE 2 QUESTION ARE:
1- CAN I MIX AND MATCH ALL THE ABOVE WITH TRADITIONAL FOODS? THERE ARE PLACES I GO IN THE HOSPITAL THAT I CANNOT HAVE MY OWN FOOD. SO I COULD HAVE A BAGEL FOR BREAKFAST(HOME) AND THEN ORDER A SALAD FROM THEIR CAFETERIA AND USE HALF A BAR FOR EACH OF MY 2 SNACKS? THEN COME HOME AND HAVE MY PIZZA FOR DINNER?
2- KEEPING IN MIND I AM DOING THE PLATE & 2 BLOCK MEAL METHOD: DID I READ RIGHT AND EACH BAGEL ETC IS A 2 BLOCK MEAL? IF SO THIS IS EVEN BETTER NEWS FOR ME AND MY TUMMY!
HOPE I AM ON THE RIGHT THREAD NOW. YESTERDAY I DIDN'T REALIZE YOU UPDATED YOUR TITLES. I WANT TO BE A ZONE FAST RACER!!! WITH YOUR POSTS, I AM BEING VERY OPTIMISTIC ABOUT ALL THIS AND HAVING A MED-LESS FRESH START. THANKS FOR THE HELP. WITH A LITTLE LUCK THIS IS THE LAST OF THE QUESTIONS. :-)
PS: I WAS JUST TELLING A YOUNG WOMAN TO KEEP THE FAITH AND THAT YOU ARE A "SURVIVOR". I THINK IT MADE A DIFFERENCE IN HER DAY! SO THANKS FOR SHARING THAT LAST YEAR. |

Hey, keep them coming! :-)
"SUE...I PLACED THE ORDER ..."
Great! Happy to hear you've improved to the point you have the doc's ok about food choices.
"1- CAN I MIX AND MATCH ALL THE ABOVE WITH TRADITIONAL FOODS? THERE ARE PLACES I GO IN THE HOSPITAL THAT I CANNOT HAVE MY OWN FOOD. Yes. You can even bring a Zone food with and eat is aong with the salad for lunch, as long as the salad doesn contain any significant amount of protein. Salad adds minimal carbohydrate, so it's still basically a balanced 2 block meal.
"2- KEEPING IN MIND I AM DOING THE PLATE & 2 BLOCK MEAL METHOD: DID I READ RIGHT AND EACH BAGEL ETC IS A 2 BLOCK MEAL? IF SO THIS IS EVEN BETTER NEWS FOR ME AND MY TUMMY!"
Yes, even with seom veggies adn small amounts of condiments added (as I explained in the reply to #1).
"HOPE I AM ON THE RIGHT THREAD NOW. :-)"
You're in the right place (there is no wrong place here!).
Fantastic Mel! Your exuberance is contageous! You're very welcome, and I'm always happy to help. :-)
"PS: I WAS JUST TELLING A YOUNG WOMAN TO KEEP THE FAITH AND THAT YOU ARE A "SURVIVOR". I THINK IT MADE A DIFFERENCE IN HER DAY! SO THANKS FOR SHARING THAT LAST YEAR."
Oh, that's so nice to hear. How kind of you to share my info to help her. If you have the opportunity to speak with her again, please tell her I wish her all the best. Yes, I'm 7.5 yr survivor, soon to be 8 years. :-) I had my usual 6 month follow-up check 1 1/2 weeks ago and all is well. (Yeah!)
Enjoy your Zone food order when it arrives! |

Hi Everyone! I hoep you're getting lots fo new ideas from reading my journal here. Lunch today ended up being late and on the run...a stray brick, of sorts, hit my windshield, right in front of my face, as I was driving on the highway. All is well, except the windshield, which has to be replaced. Fortunately, the ZoneFast plan works so well for me that an unexpected delayed lunch is not problem anymore, as it would have in the past. I stayed in the Zone just fine, all day. :-) Here's my journal entry for today. Mon. 2.08.10 B: Zone peanut butter granola and a little bit of plain yogurt (maybe ¼ cup) S: 1 Zone Coconut Choc Chip cookie Vestibular PT exercises S: 1 Zone Coconut Choc Chip cookie walk Lunch: Zone multigrain bagel, toasted and topped with melted vegan Mexican flavored hot pepper “cheese” and a little light cream cheese; a handful of blackberries for dessert. Dinner: gazpacho with fresh herbs and veggies and ½ package of plain Zone croutons, 1 slice of toasted Zone cinnamon swirl loaf, ½ Zone chocolate brownie with a small handful of blackberries for dessert Vestibular PT exercises Yoga S: Zone pretzel warmed in the microwave, with a little bit of Dijon Spread for dipping. Sue, I am curious, how much do they pay you to post your journal every day? I don't mean to offend, but the posts on this thread seem to be fairly predictable. Lets see what kind of situation Sue gets herself in next, and how she saved herself using Zone Fast products! To be quite honest, I tried the ZoneFast products after receiving my shipment last week. I have to admit, I am not impressed at all. They are nothing special. I don't feel as if I did myself any favors by eating these products. I was in the Zone prior to trying them, but I can't say that I am now. |

No one's paying me anything to post here Lynn. I've been participating in these forums for about 10 years, posting voluntarily, just like everyone else here. The Zone has changed my life and I want to pay it forward, so to speak, by sharing my experiences with others here. As for predictable, some of us lead pretty boring every day lives I guess, lol! To each his own, as they say. |

I probably shouldn't; but, I just wanted to chime in here. While Sue (according to her own words) does work for Zone, some where in some capacity, the forums are strictly on her own - as far as I know. Though I often might disagree with some things Sue has to say, she does have the experience and insight into Zone living. She is very passionate about it. And passion about some thing often brings a sales type expression into our words. There are a few things, I myself am passionate about, and some times, to folks I am talking with, might come across as selling. When, instead it is more zealousness. Yes she does really tend to sound like she is pushing SuperZone as the end all and be all - as the only food we need. And apparently the SuperZone foods are working for her. So take her passion and zealousness for what it is. As for most of the rest of us, that isn't saying that we can't stick with the more effective (and less expensive) real, whole (and often raw) foods - the best source of nourishment, in their natural state as God designed them. . And, like Cran, when I have a few extra bucks to spend, i might give the SZ foods a small trial. They might be good to have on-hand when keeping and storing perishable real food might not be as practicable - like for an upcoming business trip with no supermarkets within walking distance, and no real stores nearby, and a low per diem offered for meals. And with the only restaurants available and nearby being either lousy junk "fast food" or very high-end expensive ones. (I've been to Las Vegas for this annual conf - before!) |

I am not really sure how to take the responses here. Some threads seem to be friendly enough, while others seem to be very "sensitive". Did I say something that was not allowed? Out of due respect, I would really like to know why my post was offensive to you all? |
