Hello all. Since there isn't really an introductions thread, I thought I would post this here. I hope that is ok. I am new to The Zone (in my third week now). I'm feeling great!! My husband has been eating according to this plan for years and I finally jumped on board. I'm feeling wonderful and have also dropped some pounds already. Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. |

You're welcome lynn. :-) Let's face it, veggies are an important part of the Zone, so there's no time like the present to start expanding your veggie repertoire! Just start by eating more of your favorites from the list of best veggies for the Zone. If you have no favorites, then pick a few on the list you can tolerate and start with those. Become a little adventurous in the market and try a couple you haven't tried before. Seasonings are important, to make those veggies taste good to non-veggie lovers. The way to make sure you keep eating them all day long is to have them prepared ahead and ready to grab at a minute's notice, sort of like having a mini salad bar, a veggie bar, in your fridge. These can be both salad veggies and cooked veggies. A quick zap of prepared cooked veggies in the microwave will give you an excellent Zone meal when eaten with a little lean protein and some monounsaturated fat. Last night we did that, some kale flavored with onions and braised in low fat coconut milk, a dish I'd made several days earlier. Again, no time like the present, so the quicker you get the unfavorable carbs out of the house (donate them to a worthy cause, or to a friend, but rid of them) the quicker you get yourself into the Zone! :-) |
