Hi all, I am working on a calculator for zone diet, do you know any food nutrient database with food quality ( or glycemic load)? Thanks in advance A |

Thank you John, but I was looking for something downloadable, with only name, macronutrients and GL. I know it is not so easy, if you also know about commercial product...
Bye,

Here's another one: www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/ I like the nutritiondata website that John posted, it is one of my favorites as it does calculate estimated glycemic load. |

Andrea, I didn't catch your post before I posted my link. I don't know if you will find what you are looking for, online at least. I have worked on something similar, not completed though. If you find it, please let me know! I had it set up with the zone food guide as my base, and I set up the columns to calculate blocks depending on the serving size. Then, I was adding in nutrient content and glycemic load, but that has been a long and time-consuming exercise. The block list/calculations are finished, though. |

Cranberrycat, at the moment i have something like [food - macronutrients - Glycemic index (only for charboidrates)]. I got it joining 2 databases, one from USDA and the other from cancer institute. But I still need a GL or "quality" field. If you are interested I can share it... Bye

You will find estimated GL values on www.nutritiondata.com, but I am thinking that you will have to look them up individually and do the work yourself. Yes, feel free to share, and I can also share what I have with you... I had some some updating before I lost my hard drive, so some of my more recent changes were lost, but I do have some saved copies of earlier saves. cranberrycat@hotmail.com |
