I am finding this forum to difficult to navigate it is also too busy. I am on the Zone and would like the support this offers but I find it too confusing. I use the lowcarbfriends.com and it is simple, basic, and each post is very un-busy (if there is such a word. I hope the administrators would investigate and maybe come up with a solution <img src='desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/smile.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Smile' align='absmiddle'> respectfully, Maria

Hi Marialanea! I'm just a member, but have some ideas in response to your post. There's a lot of great information in the forums, and I agree that finding it can be a challenge!

Two things I've found very useful (and that I really can't live without on this site):

    1) Click the "Active Topics" link in the top left (4th link in, below the horizontal Zone menu). That way, you can go right to threads that have new posts.

    2) Use the "Search" link -- not the one in the very top right, but the one at the right end of the same link line as the "Active Topics" link. This "Search" link will search the forum posts for what you're looking for. For example, I searched on "cauliflower" and found great recipe ideas. Or, on "energy" and found members' experiences around energy levels.

I like that the forums are "busy" (in fact, I wish more of us posted!) It isn't nearly as valuable or interesting if no one posts! Or, did you mean something else by "busy"?

There are also so many "unknowns" about the forum, what the symbols mean, what it takes to get smileys to work, and no guidelines on forum etiquette. Most other forums or message boards have always had this information available. Would be nice for this one to have a list of instructions.

Hi Cran -- I agree with you. It's hit or miss with the emoticons for me -- usually they don't work, but every once in a while they appear correctly.

Maybe, as we figure out things along the way, we can post them for reference in this forum? I'll search around and see if anyone has started something like that in the past that we can pick up on. Sue recently posted instructions on how to embed photos/links in our signature -- Sue, if you see this post -- would it be ok for me to copy/paste your instructions in a support thread here?
