Hi! I am looking for good soup ideas. Sometimes I like to eat something that is warm and I can feel like there is a lot of.

I am trying to work on making a Japanese Clear soup and Veggie Soup
    .
My question about the Clear Soup is it asks for Sherry. Im good there as long as I count the carbs right? My goal is to use Chicken stock, sherry, soy sauce and lots of veggies, and a serving of Tofu...

I am trying to make a 1 block snack.
The chicken stock has 1 carb. And then I am using the amount of Sherry to equal approx 6 or 7 carbs and lots of onion and mushrooms..., 2oz of tofu for 1P.
The recipe is high in sodium, but feels like a treat on the weekends for only snack!!

Any advice, or do you see me doing anything wrong here?

    THANKS!

oh, also same kind of question for veggie soup. Can I use a bullion cube and tons of veggies and some tofu for a snack?

I think you can make it work just fine. Are you making a large batch? If it works in your recipe, I would make it so that the carbs from the sherry are less than 25% of the total carbs in the soup. So, if you use chix stock for one block, count the sherry as the second block, and then the veggies as the third block. Of course, you will need enough tofu for 3 blocks, and also add enough fat.

Just some more ideas for you, let me know what you think and what you come up with!

oh, thought of something else that I was going to say...

I did up a recipe for a zoned hot and sour soup, if you are interested, I can pass it on. I can't recall if I added it to my recipe thread or not, but I am sure I have posted it before. I will look for it.

LOOK in either the "Recipes" or the "Classic Zone Recipes" forum.
As a reference, you posted your request in the "Healthy Cooking" forum.

Debra, I posted the recipe over a year ago, and I am not sure if I still have a copy of it handy anymore. I will look again for it. It is delicious and I recall it being very easy to do.

    Debra, here's a link to cranberry's soup: http://www.zonediet.com/forums/aft/32843#34247

If you lose the link you can find the recipe by doing a search of the word "soup", refining the search by putting "cranberrycat" in the username box.

Why are they sold as a Zone product. In one of his books he encourages you have them as a snack. I quess the only source of product is the online store? Or is there another source available?. Thanks. D

At one time, long, long, ago - in a galaxy far, far away - Dr. Sears worked for a Co. when he first wrote about and presented his "Zone Diet." At the time he worked with that company and developed "Zone Perfect". He had a difference of opinion on the direction, and left and started his own company. The "Zone Perfect" bars were his first product and far different from his products, today. The company also changed the "Zone Perfect" bars, so that for a very long time they have been much different than what Dr. Sears wanted/envisioned.
Though they might be P, C, F balanced - they do not provide the hormonally controlled release prescription found in Dr. Sears ZONE bars.
