These look to me to be "zone friendly", however, I am really new to all of this so I'm looking for someone's "expert" opinion. The nutritional info: 1g fat, no sat fat, 22 g carb, 5 g fiber and 5 g protein. How would I count this? Would it be 3 carb blocks? 1 fat block? What about protein? Thanks for any guidance anyone out there could give with this product! |

Orowheat? Are these cookies, crackers, bread? . In any event sounds like a grain product. . A few facts: 1.) Most grains are unfavorable. 2.) You do not count Protein in grains, unless its Soy Protein. 3.) Carbohydrates are counted NET (minus the fiber). 4.) You should have at the very MOST, no more than 1/4 of your Carb portion for each meal or snack from unfavorable foods. . Fat: These would be 1g fat, probably unfavorable - how much Fat to add depends on the protein you have with these. Protein: Do not count, so 0 blocks. Carbs: 22g minus 5g = 17g Carbs = 2 blocks unfavorable. . Not a good Zone choice. |

I think I know what you are talking about, those little round things that look like flattened buns? You can basically use each round as the top and bottom of a sandwich, like a hamburger. I like that there is not HFCS and it is a good source of fiber. However, being a grain product, not zone-friendly. As John suggested, you want to aim for less than 25% of the total carbs coming from an unfavorable carb. That being said, if you choose to use them, you could balance it easily with a burger tossed in the middle and toss in some almonds to eat on the side. |

Thanks John! They are indeed a bread product. The one gram of fat comes from canola oil, which is "favorable" I think I will try them once or twice and see how they affect my hunger after a few hours. I can always give them away. |

Yes, Cranberrycat those are exactly what I'm talking about, and exactly what I had in mind to use them for. I'm going to give it a try, with the thought that they would be an occasional "unfavorable" item, not an every single day kind of thing. You two are a wealth of information on this forum, btw. :-) |

QUOTE: The one gram of fat comes from canola oil, which is "favorable" END QUOTE . I would avoid Canola Oil if you can, but not sweat it. better than most. Most favorable is Olive Oil or Almonds. |

Thanks for the compliment, Angela! Let us know how it works out for you! BTW, I support John's comment on the canola oil, based on my personal feeling regarding its use. There is no such thing as a canola plant, this oil is an artificially made oil. |

Canola is a made up word, and is from the Rape plant. I have read some really bad stuff about it. Do a google search. Actually, I never knew that it was as bad as it is until I did a little research. I have a small amount to use up then I will be eliminating it from my diet.
Are Orowheat Sandwich Thins similar to the Arnolds Bread Thins? |

I think they are the same thing, just marketed under a different label. |
