Hey there - I am wanting to get in the Zone with the hopes of leading a healthier life and hopefully improving my overall well being.

I have been browsing through the recipes in tools and was wondering about the blocks. For example, there is a breakfast sandwhich recipe that says "3 blocks" - does this mean that the sandwhich has 3 blocks of each (being protein/carbs/fat)? When a muffin recipe says 18 blocks I'm assuming it makes 18 muffins - but does each muffin have 1 block of protein/carbs/fat? Same goes for the lunches and dinners - when it says how many blocks is it accounting for all three? Hopefully this makes sense to someone. Thanks in advance for your help!

Generally, yes. But, if you are looking at user-submitted recipes, then sometimes you have to be careful, as some are not very accurate.

I have been browsing through the forums and, as your status indicates, you seem to be a Zone expert! Thanks for replying - do you know if there is anywhere with accurate Zone recipes?

Well, Hmmm, I was thinking that there were some recipes on this site that were compiled from the books, but I don't see where they are, but if you look at the 7 day menu planner, that is probably most consistent.

If you have a question about a recipe, if you are afraid that it doesn't measure up, feel free to post it and we can analyze it for you. And, I will get busy and look around for the gold mine of official zone recipes!

    Shauna,

It would be fine to use the recipes in the recipe section. As with any Zone meal, if you have hunger 4 hours later judge the type and adjust according to Dr. Sears’ recommendations.

Also, you can find balanced recipe in my meal and recipe thread in the Cooking Tips forum here, and in my photo album (link is in my signature below). Enjoy!
