I'm sure this has been posted before but my attention can only last so long while I'm at work (shhh!).

Per the block calculator, I am supposed to eat 11 blocks a day. I'm a former competitive athlete gone bad so my body fat percentage is a little high, but I also only have to look at a weight to put on muscle. Maybe it's the foods I'm eaitng, but with my work schedule and type plus my activity level, I am starving all the time. For workouts I do Krav Maga 3x/week, Crossfit 1-2x/week, Power Yoga 2x/week, and run 2-6 miles 2-3 times a week. I am trying to stay within the blocks and get enough nutrition to allow my muscles to recover, but am always hungry!

I also work 10-12 hour days as a pediatric hospital speech therapist, so run around like a headless chicken all day!

Am I eating enough? Any ideas for GOOD foods to eat to stay within the blocks and not be hungry (this is my 2nd week and I'm still a little uncertain as to whether what I'm eating is a good/unfavorable carb - and the list is not always handy to help me). I'm also allergic to dairy (severely), so casein and whey are out for me. Thanks guys!

    Hi Chelsea!

    "Am I eating enough?"

Maybe not. I can't tell you without knowing your LBM. My suggestion would be to recheck your protein and block requirements. Use the Very Active activity level and compare to the Active level. Eat either the amount suggested for Very Active or an amount between the suggestions for Active and Very Active. Additional monounsaturated fat will also be helpful to meet you energy needs, if you are still having a problem once you're eating at an appropriate block amount (start by doubling the number of fat blocks you add to meals). You will also find the following video presentations to be to very helpful (they apply to average people in the Zone, as well as to elite athletes): http://www.zonediet.com/EliteAthlet...fault.aspx
