Michael, this is my favorite snack, too! I use the frozen blueberries and allow them to thaw out, but I have also done it with soft frozen berries, and it is great! |

Oh my gosh!! I just had this as a snack and it was absolutely delish!!!! Although, according to the PDF I have on Zone blocks, 1 block = 1/2 cup of blueberries. Does that sound right??

check the lables because blueberries vary in carb content. I find 3/4 cup is just about right... |

Definitely, look at package labels. My blueberries are frozen and generally work out to be 1/2 cup per carb block. |

I could probably eat cottage cheese 2 or 3 times a day and not get sick of it! I use 3/4 cup at breakfast with a 'rounded' cup of frozen mixed berries and 2 TBLS of steel cut oats for breakfast (+1 tsp of good olive oil.) I put it together at night, leave it in the fridge and by the time I get to work it's ready to eat. |

Robin, since you love cottage cheese, try this for breakfast. It was posted in the Zone Forums, by a member, about 10 years ago. It might not look too pretty, but it's reeeeally good. Mix together 3/4 cup low fat cottage cheese, 1 cup steel cut oats and 2 or 3 teaspoons peanut butter. (We've also added a littel vanilla flavoring at times.) Enjoy! |

Hi Sue -
I'll try it - thanks! (Oh, I guess I need to cook the oats for that one - that has never gone well for me!) |

LOL! I think I was assuming that your oats were cooked! So, are you putting it all together at night (the oats, blueberries and the cottage cheese) and then the oats are softened by morning? |

You're welcome Robin! An easy way to cook steel cut oats is in a Thermos overnight. Put one part dry steel cut oats and 4 parts very boiling or very hot water into the thermos and cap it. Leave it on the counter overnight and in the morning you have cooked oats. Another easy way is to cook them in a small (1/5 quart) Crockpot overnight (use 1 cup dry steel cut oats to 4 cups water). You can freeze the leftovers in1 block amounts. They can be quickly reheated in the microwave (to prevent stickiness, add a little water when reheating). |
