It's my 3rd day on the Zone and i'm confused about whether or not i should eat whole eggs or just the whites ? I used egg beaters the last 2 breakfasts but love real eggs... Anyone ?

Just Egg Whites. Egg yolks contribute to much AA.

Thanks John, i saw sample menu planners with real eggs on them leading to my confusion. I will just use the whites. So much for Rocky Balboa

David, while it's better stick with whites only, if you really want to indulge and a whole egg, having one once in a will no do too much damage.
I don't eat the yolks.

In the "Zone" books you will see, on occasion, a recipe including just one whole egg with several egg whites in the mix. To decrease the arachidonic acid (bad ecosinoid production catalyst) I try to only allow the one egg yolk recipe whenever I've not had beef or other AA food in same period of time. I can actually guage when I've eaten to much AA by the inflamation and pain of arthritic joints.

I have used the Zone diet and variations thereof since 1997, and really believe in it for optimal health, however, now back with it after a period of bad eating (Carbo Hell) once again I am experiencing the thing that always drove me away. Insomnia! Three days back in the Zone and my energy levels/mental alertness rise so much, I cannot mellow out. I realize that I have used carbs as a way to subdue/anesthetize myself forever. What is the answer for those like me?

Evelyn, I don't have an absolute answer, other than to use the energy during the day and put it to good use. Yep, we all feel more energy in the Zone, but I think that it also gives me more energy to be more active, so the added activity balances out the additional energy, and helps me to rest well at night.

Evelyn, taking the daily fish oil dose at the evening meal or later can create sleep difficulty in some individuals. If you're taking it at that time of day, try it with breakfast instead. It could be one piece of the puzzle when it comes to getting rid of the insomina you have when you're in the Zone.
Another option is to contact Zone Labs to see what their thoughts/suggestions would be.
Good luck!
