Does anyone know a good formula that figures out one's daily caloric expenditure? Any help is appreciated. Thanks Mike

Nope. Personally, I don't believe it's possible to figure BMR with any formula. Even the tests that determine BMR by measuring oxygen uptake can't give you a definite answer, since BMR fluctuates throughout the day

[quote:72b4056c28="mimst20"]Does anyone know a good formula that figures out one's daily caloric expenditure?[/quote:72b4056c28] Sure, here is the formula (procedure actually): Keep track of every calorie you eat. Slowly lower your intake calories until you start losing weight. Then slowly increase calories until you stop losing weight. That is how many calories you expend in a day on average. Every person is different. It should take about a year to have enough data to make a really good estimate. 8) Just to show how difficult it is to use a math formula, researchers have just reported that some people fidget more if they eat more calories. It is genetic. The fidgeting is an automatic mechanism to burn up extra calories to keep from gaining excess fat. It can account for up to 400 calories a day. That's about 4 extra Zone blocks a day!
