Is the Zone Perfect fish oil the same fish oil as the OmegaRX fish oil that Dr. Sears sells? If it's not as pure, why would Dr. Sears advocate its sale at Zone Perfect? and if it is the same, why is it so much cheaper?

Dr. Sears is NOT associated with Zone Perfect. Not the same stuff. Zone Perfect is NOT IFOS. Can't say about quality. If you want something good quality, but not IFOS, try Natural Factors, Rx Omega-3.

Though I believe, and many here do also, that Natural Factors meets the IFOS standards, they have never submitted their product for the very expensive testing done by the one site promoted here that publishes their results on the web. Several of us have contacted Natural factors, and they sent us their purity levels. According to them, and the levels they sent us, their product meets or exceeds IFOS. Another member of this forum contacted Natural Factors and inquired if their product was tested by an independant lab. That forum member, if I remember correctly, is satisfied, according to the answers received from Natural Factors. So, according to the numbers received - Natural factors is of similar purity levels to Dr. Sears. I just ordered another 4 bottles. One bottle only lasts 15 days - and at $14.00 per 120 capsules with free shipping and 10% discount - a good deal. (Though still very. very tough on our tiny, tiny budget!)

Dennis was advised that all testing costs much the same. IFOS standards are the strictest in the world. You cant reach that standard with other testing but its certainly possible to reach WHO or CRN standard. As for ZP oil being a lot cheaper. when you consider it only has 1/2 the omega 3 of a genuine 40:20 it is NOT good value. at all White Light

Natural Factors is at the 40:20 (desired, genuine) ratio. So NF is a good value.

Most processed food and drug products are required to have some level of contamination testing by government regulations. This is for the safety of the consumers. I credit Dr. Sears as the one who has led the way and applied pressure to the refined fish oil industry to make the results of their testing public. However, testing a product to a particular standard does not mean that the product is not better than the standard. It just means that the product is guaranteed to be at least as good as the standard. Any product that claims to meet a standard and did not, could not be sold. You can't economically test quality in. You have to start with a manufacturing process that is robust. Testing is a process monitoring tool to make sure that nothing in your manufacturing process has changed drastically. The AVERAGE long term quality is much more important for fish oil than if a single batch is higher or lower in quality. This is because the type of contamination that we are concerned about is the type that accumulates in the body over a long period of time. The AVERAGE quality of a fish oil product has more to do with the raw materials used (starting contamination levels) and the effectiveness of the manufacturing methods used to remove those contaminants.

It is the contaminents in the batch you consume that effect you. Not the ones that went before. Would you really stick with a batch that tested dangerous to your health ? If Natural Factors could produce a 5 star batch at Iherb prices, I would switch tomorrow If SYW drops from its 5 star status and another TG supplier of 40:20 has one at a similar price, Again I change brands tomorrow. at US$18.75 for a months supply of a 5 star product I see no point in Gambling on the uncertified. Everybody is however free to make their own choice. White Light
