The amounts in the food list are for raw meat and fish. Most meats 1 oz per block, most fish 1.5 oz per block.

Alexander, if you choose to weight cooked meat, figure about 2/3 ounce to 1 P block. Cooked meat will weigh less than raw, due to the evaporation of fluid in as it cooks.

Both work very well. I've been in the Zone for almost 15 years. I lost 100 pounds (down to ideal body fat%) with the plate method. I've since switched to loosley doing the block method sometimes, along with the plate method other times. My blood lab results are excellent, in what Barry Sears considers to be the ideal ranges for the Zone (the most up to date ranges for the Zone are found in TOXIC FAT), with my fasting insulin being at 3 year after year. That's about as good as you can get.
