[quote:7f1cc4dce5="tech@drsears.com"]FYI 1/3 cup COOKED=1 block[/quote:7f1cc4dce5] But I think it varies by brand. When I used Arrowhead Mills, 1/3 cup cooked with 2 parts water = one block, but it made more with 3 parts water. McCain's recommends 4 cups water for 1 cup oatmeal, which yields about 4 cups, or 88 grams of carb.

The amount of water does not change the blocks. Measure it raw, and that's it. I truly believe there is no great difference between brands--grew up on a farm and family has farmed since before they came to this country. A pile of oats is pretty much a pile of oats!!! The difference in the nutritional contents is probably based more on whether or not it was a "good year" when they tested the oats, or perhaps slightly from variety of oat seed used, but really there can't be that much difference. I am not a botanist, but I have noticed no difference in my own zoning and I've tried 3 different brands. The only difference for me was price and staleness. Ronica

[/quote:ad7a59330d] The amount of water does make a difference if you're referring to [i:ad7a59330d]cooked[/i:ad7a59330d] oatmeal though, which is what I was doing in my post. If you cook with more water, it gets absorbed, and there's then more oatmeal. Of course the [i:ad7a59330d]total[/i:ad7a59330d] amount of carbs or blocks is the same. Andrea

[quote:fedd008a59="tech@drsears.com"]You can eat it that way for sure. It will actually have a slower absorption rate.[/quote:fedd008a59] Thanks! (And slower is better.
