I'm at work and I have a lot of spare time on my hands!( as you can probably tell)
Today I'm not enjoying to zone so much. I'm feeling hunngry and weak.
The only thing I can think of is that I'm not eating enough.
I do workout pretty intensely every day.
I'm also cutting back on my coffee. If someone looks at me the wrong way I'm likely to bite their head off! So... I guess I'm going through caffeine withdrawals.
Talk to you later ( however is listening)

Hi Dawn, I can totally relate to what you are saying. If you are eating enough it may be something more psychological.
Whenever I have nothing pressing to do at work, that is when all of a sudden I start thinking about food and feeling deprived and cranky. I find that it is not because I am hungry, but because before the Zone I would be in the habit of eating to fill time. I would eat when I was bored.
Now when this happens I go to this forum to read encouraging posts (you obviously do too!) or find a task to keep me busy. The busier I am, the easier the Zone is for me. If this doesn't do it, I drink water like crazy. My last resort is to have a one block snack (like a half of a Zone bar), WITHOUT beating myself up over it!
Good job on cutting down your caffeine! I used to drink pots and pots of coffee a day, so I know what it feels like to cut it out. But you know it's going to be worth it so keep it up! Go get some decaf, it's not that bad!!! :D |

Thanks Monica,
You hit the nail on the head regarding my work situation. All my co-workers are always eating and drinking coffe too. I've had to say "no" 3 times today already to junk food.
I am, however, losing some body fat. I can feel it. I think once I get passed this caffeine thing I'll be OK.
I work in a hospital based health club selling (glorified) memberships. Lately it's been excruciatingly slow so all I've been doing is sitting at my desk playing on the computer.
Thanks for helping me pass the time!
Bye for Now!
Dawn :) :) |

[b:c64725f2b7]congratulations![/b:c64725f2b7] What a way to go! Sit there praising yourself for the number of times you say no. Keep a tally and let us know when you hit 20, 40 and then 60 ( perhaps your co-workers may have got the picture by then) . Have you tried Monicas Zoned Fudge? Perhaps you could make some and take it to work and have a bit as a reward for yourself when you reach that 20 mark, may also like to share with your co workers as a special treat.
Dont beat yourself up over the cafeine cut back a bit but concentrate on the juck food for the moment, then as you start to feel better you can reduce the caffeine some more
I love spare time, Have you ever tried meditation? I just pop into my quiet place and do a little reinforcement of my goals & positive thoughts!!
Go girl!!
cheers

I found this doing a search of the forum for you:
Anne-Marie's Zone Fudge
Makes 12 (1) block snacks
6 T. fructose
6 T. water
Bring to a full boil in microwave (8c)
Add the following and bring to a boil again:
3 T. natural smooth or crunchy peanut butter (2 T. if using almond or
cashew butter) 9F, 27grams)
1 ½ c. (75 grams) powdered skim milk (6C, 5P)
60 grams chocolate whey protein powder (8 ½ P)
1/3 c. cocoa
1 T. chopped almonds and 2 T. chopped peanuts (3F – 9 grams)
2 T. whole flax seed
Add skim milk powder to fructose and water mixture. Then add the rest of the ingredient. Mixture will be thick. If too thick add 1 tsp. Water (be careful not to add to much). Mixture will thicken as it cools.
Spray mini muffin pans with Pam spray. Put into mini muffin pans. Freeze
Keep frozen. 8) |

Dawn,
Feeling hungry and weak means you aren't in the Zone. If you can give your LBM, the type of activities and time spent on them in your workouts each week, and the number of blocks you eat in a day, I can help you figure it out.

I don't have the original zone book and I don't know how to figure that out.
I'm goingto the store soon to get one.
I'm 165lbs
I'm 5"8
I work out about an hour a day, pretty strenuous.
I don't think this is enough info to get lbm, is it?

Hi Dawn,
No, you haven't given enough info for me to calculate LBM, nor have youyou provided enough detail for me to choose your activity level. I need to know how much time per week you do aerobic training (and roughly what the activity is) and how much time you spend doing strenght training per week.
You can easily calculate your LBM using the Bodyfat Calculator on this site. Look for it in Zone Tools. If you aren't sure of your activity level for the calculator, it doesn't really matter which level you choose , as far as the LBM calculation is concerned. The activity level is only used to come up with a suggested number of blocks per day. Your LBM result will be the same regardless of which activity level you use in the calculator.

Caffeine withdrawals could also have quite a bit to do with your feelings of being fatigue. |
