I'm from Ottawa too and considering this diet. I've done it before and was successful however I find that, like most diets, a lot of what is suggested to eat I don't like ; ).

I'm having a very hard time getting motivated and really don't like how I look and feel. Any tips on getting started?

    Hi Joanne!

You might get inspired by looking at the meal photos in my Photobucket album (the link's in my signature below). Here's my motto. Only eat things you really like, and make sure they're the most Zone friendly foods. I've been eating in the Zone for about 15 years, and it's never been boring. (And I used to be a veggie hater!)

Best way is to get started is to put your stats into the Zone calculator (link at right) and simply follow the suggestions in the links that appear on your results page. Those links contain all the info you need to get started.

    Have fun with it!

    Hi!
I'm also from Ontario, although quite far from Ottawa. I'm a mom of four, and while I do have some weight I'd like to lose, I mostly hope to improve my energy lol! This is the second time I've started with the zone -- I'm starting easy with the "divided plate" idea, and see how it goes. The hardest part for me is that preparing fresh veggies and food takes a lot more time and energy (and planning!) than prepared foods, at a time of day when the kiddies are starting to lose it. But so much good stuff is in season right now it's good motivation, so here we go!

    Hi Kristen!

I like your tip in the other forum about washing and cutting veggies ahead of time. It's something I do too. The "divided plate" method of the Zone works well. It's the way I lost the 100 pounds. Good luck and please keep us updated!

    Welcome Kristen

I am also from Ontario and have a large family too so I understand where you are coming from! I find some of the grocery stores here have excellent prepared foods that fit nicely into the zone. If I know I'll be short on time I'll pick up a pre-made salad or already cut up stir fry veggies....even the rotisserie chickens are ok in a pinch (if you stick the breast for your portions). There have been many rushed nights that I pull 3 oz off a rotisserie chicken and put it on a purchased salad and have an apple and some almonds for desert...everyone else usually polishes of the chicken(s) in either a 'pot pie' or alongside potato wedges.

    Best of Luck

Hey Guys, I'm from Halton Hills, Ontario and was introduced to the Zone this past spring by a friend. I love the recipes and it goes in hand with my workouts.

    Hello,

Can anyone tell me if you can buy the Zone cereal at any of the Ottawa health stores? I want to try out a box to see if I like it, but I'd have to order a lot to make the online purchase cost effective.

Hi I'm a newbie from Cobourg, Ontario. Just started reading the book so I haven't got a clue as yet. Lots of info on here though to get me started while I read.
