I am doing well in the Zone, but I do have some questions. Usually I am able to choose a hormonely correct meal for my body, but ocassionally I don't quite hit the mark. I was fascinated by Sue's post about the kind of carbs that keep her in the zone. I realize I will learn the same about me. I wondered if it is only carbs that are adjusted. Does the choice of protein also matter to keep you in the zone? When my meals haven't been quite right, I wonder if I need to think about the choice of protein or just the choice of carbs. I rarely eat any unfavorable carbs. I did have watermelon the other day and it was so good, but I made sure it was only one block of the meal. It seems like when I have shrimp, I don't stay in the zone, even if I add extra fat. Lynda

Lynda[/quote:733de282d5] Hi, Glad to hear my experiences are helpful! :D If you're consuming the correct amount of protein for your LBM and activity needs then it would be the carbs and fat you would adjust to address hunger. Adding some fat will slow down the digestion a little, ultimately helping keep insulin within the Zone. As for the shrimp problem you're having, you may try even more fat with it, or take a second look at the carbs you usually have with the shrimp. Sue

Dr. Sears uses the terms favorable and unfavorable for carbohydrates. Really, the zone isn't about no-no things. Watermelon enters the bloodstream fast enough to be considered an unfavorable carb.
