This question came up for me recently and I can't figure out the answer. If you eat a meal that is too heavy in carbs, and also too big overall... is it better to eat a little more protien to balance it out or to stop at that point with an unbalanced meal? Another way of asking the same question is like this: Which is worse? ...to be unbalanced (in carb to protien ratio) or to have too big of a balanced meal? |

The result of either scenario will be increased insulin production. |

Sue, thanks for the help here on the forums. I figured it was bad either way. I was just wondering which was worse. I guess when in doubt, stop. This may be a question that can only be answered by a clinical study. |

Jeff, When I eat a meal that is too heavy in carbs, I just stop. Either way, it is going to create a situation in which I am OOZ. Adding more protein and fat may or may not help, and it is just contributing more calories. Just make sure that your next meal/snack is in the Zone. |

You're welcome Jeff!
About which is worse, the extent of insulin elevation in either situation will depend on how the many variables fall in place for each individual occurrence (e.g. type and amount of carb eaten, type and amount of protein eaten, amount of fat eaten, carb sensitivity of the individual, amount of additional Zone balanced blocks eaten etc.)
Congrats on your progress! |
