[quote:980b03e688="shelliek"]today is my first real day in The Zone. i've got a question about amounts in a block. not sure i'm understanding it properly. the book says i need 3 blocks of carbs at each meal, the book says for example 3c of cooked broccoli is 1 block, if i only want broccoli as my carb for that meal, does that mean i need to eat 9c of cooked broccoli? i just had my lunch which consisted of about 3-4 oz of chicken breast, 3c broccoli, 1 1/2c cucumber with 2 tomatoes chopped with olive oil and vinegar as the dressing. does this sound right???? i'm stuffed! couldn't even finish the cucumbers and tomatoes. i was supposed to be starting michael thurmonds 6 week body make-over but the food choices are very confusing. my daughter and i went to mississippi and met a waiter who we bonded with and he told me he lost 180lbs on The Zone so when i got back home i checked it out and it seems so much easier to understand and follow. that is if i'm understanding it correctly. can anybody help me?[/quote:980b03e688]
Yes, you understand correctly. Look over the list of Zone favorable carb to find carb blocks with less volume. You could have the broccoli with an apple, or the broccoli with 1/4 cup chick peas and 1/2 apple, or any other combination that gives you 3 blocks but is a manageable size to eat.
