I've been on ultra refined fish oil for 2 months andhave even got some of my family to take it. My aunt is complaining of severe gas pains (in her abdomen) when she began routinely taking her FO at 4 capsules. The pain was so bad, she nearly went to the ER. She had been taking 3 per daywithout unusual side effects,, but hadn't been consistently taking it everyday. Any thoughts on what she shoudl do? Thanks in advance, rew

This is a common malady which most of us have overcome by splitting our doses. Have your aunt try 2 capsules before breakfast and the other 2 before supper. BTW, I am convinced this gastric distress is only experienced in the beginning. Once in a while I'll take all 4 caps at once with no discomfort.

I have heard somewhere ( sorry cant remember the source) that the gastric distress is in fact a good sign because it indicates that the oil is getting rid of the nasties from our bodies!! But that doesnt mean you should "suffer in silence", but thought you might like to know that it is a good sign not a bad one. Some recommend to start the dose with one capsule and then gradually increase it over a couple of weeks. that's another way of doing it. or split it as Adam suggests cheers Top
