I like the new format. Here is the problem, though, with the "View Posts Since Last Visit". If one is on every day, it's not so bad. But say that there are a couple of Forums, or even a couple of Topics in a Forum that one is NOT interested in. With the current format, one has to read or at least open all of the posts displayed since the Last visit. Otherwise, Unless I have it wrong, any posts not viewed, will show up. So then on the next visit are all of the new posts and all of the posts not viewed, previously. After a few days, there could be hundreds of posts in forums or on topics that one is not interested in, but because one did not view them on the previous visit, they display, and their numbers grow exponentially? Or am I misunderstanding How "View posts since last visit" works" I am assuming, like a lot of formats, it means, essentially, "View all unopened posts". Please correct me if I am wrong. [b:31da32f01c]2.) [/b:31da32f01c] Regardless of how that works. What I liked about View all today and View all yesterday in the old forum, is say if one does not go on for a few days, or even longer (Vacation, business trip, etc.) Then when one comes on, and selects "View Since Last Visit", there are literally, hundreds of posts an many, many topics in each forum. With View all Today and View all Yesterday, one could simply see a listing of all topics and their threads/replys in one view, and chose to scan whatever they are interested in. You can't do that now in this new forum. [b:31da32f01c]3. [/b:31da32f01c] Also, with the new format, one can not get a bird's eye view of Topics, and replies. All it shows is the last reply for each topic. Its a matter of getting used to. But a high level overview is also a nice feature. Something View all today and View all yesterday, provided. Just my .10 cents worth. (inflation from .02 cents worth!) ~john

I agree with John. I find that I spend a lot of time scanning dates. I go to the Forum Index and scan the last entered post dates to see if there are any new posts. I then have to go to the individual forums and scan those dates to see which topics have the recently dated posts associated with them. THEN I have to open that topic and scan the dates AGAIN to find where I left off so I can follow the discussiuon. The reason I have to do this is because, on many occasions, I have tried to log in only to get bumped back to the Forum Index still not being logged in. When I try again to log in and am successful, it says that my last visit was just that last moment ago when I first tried to log in and therefore it shows "No Unread Posts" since my last visit. So, somehow, even though I am not getting logged in, my information is getting submitted enough for the Forum Index to recognize that I have come and gone in an instant :x And so I don't get any unread threads to "light up" ~Michelle

It's so frustrating. :x I have checked [i:29356449df] Log me in automatically each visit [/i:29356449df], however, it is not working every time. I hope the tech is reading these postings... :!: -Satu-

Its all fine and dandy that "View Posts Since Last Visit" list all of the posts since last visit. When one views the first post, reads it, and is finished, there is NO easy way (DUH a LINK!) to go back to the list of "View Posts Since Last Visit" to read the next one! Yes one could use the Back button on the browser. As a general rule, that is not a best practice method, and should be avoided! It is often unreliable. And in any program the browser's back button should not be used/counted on as the navigation tool. Yes I am involved with developing content for users. I write training material for software programs, and I see a lot of user UNFriendly program developments, such as this one.

[/quote] Again, I agree with John 8) From the Forum Index, I select "View Unread Posts". Then, I select a thread to read. After I have read it, I then have to go BACK to the Forum Index, select "View Unread Posts" AGAIN  and then select the next thread to read and repeat this process OVER and OVER until I've read everything. John is right, there needs to be a link that will allow you to continue to the NEXT unread post. ~Michelle

Just to let everyone know, the way the forums are set to display "view since last visit', is the [u:fe2652957c][b:fe2652957c]only[/b:fe2652957c][/u:fe2652957c] way that we can set it up. All that you need to do is click on the colored category and scroll down to the posts. Staff
