Newbie question: Thanks in advance for assistance. In "A Week In the Zone" book, in one of the breakfast recipes it talks about 2/3 cup of oatmeal (steel cut oats). So, is that 2/3 of cup dry, prior to cooking? Or [i:27d3b19785]yielding[/i:27d3b19785] 2/3 of cup with the water absorbed etc after cooking? Cuz they say "bring 3 cups of water to a boil"....? Given the answer, what would be the [i:27d3b19785]pre-cooking [/i:27d3b19785]measure please? They also add 1/3 cup of applesauce to that recipe by the way, therefore, 1 carb block for that, I understand that part....

There used to be a page on this site showing corrections to that book and that was one of the corrections listed. What you would do is cook some oats and then measure it after cooking. One third cup cooked oats equals 1 carb block. With steel cut oats, one would usually use 1 part oats to 4 parts water to cook. Sue

Thank you so much for the quick & informative reply! I had been on another site (zoneperfect.com) which [i:21620f4938]claimed [/i:21620f4938]to be an official Zone site and when I posted this Q, all I received was holier-than-thou responses questioning my intelligemce! Ouch! I know I'm in the right place now! Thanks again.

So how does the zoneperfect site get away with the tagline "The Official Website of the Zone Diet" anyway? I know that one of the old ('95?) books sent me to that site, but when Dr. Sears left, didn't he take the rights to the Zone label? Have wondered about this since day 1 on the Zone... Robbin

Robbin[/quote:3782f04caa] It is a long story but legally ZP now owned by Abbot labs does own the Zone Perfect name and All rights to the official zone website as set up by Dr Sears. Dr Sears is the auther of the zone diet so this is a good place to be. White Light
