In recent discussions in these forums, we have talked about carrots as being a favorable carb, as indicated in the Anti-Inflammation Zone. However, the food guide on this website has never been updated.

In addition, one member pointed out that spaghetti squash was showing up as 2 cups per block, rather than 1 cup per block, as was previously published.

I posted a question to Zone Chat, and after a few emails were exchanged, I finally got a response to these issues. The response came from a Zone Labs representative, who has had direct communication with Barry Sears. Here is what the email says:

    ------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's a recap of a discussion I just had with Barry.

    Carrots:

Listed on our website as high density carbohydrates (use in moderation).

Determining an accurate GI can be confusing. There’s raw diced, raw ground, boiled, peeled boiled, peeled diced boiled ground, pureed, Canadian (GI of 92 for raw), Romanian, Australian etc.

Mendosa website states "GI of 55 is low"

Dr. Sears has reviewed the current data and at this time will keep cooked carrots on the high density list.

The Spaghetti Squash listed on our website (http://www.zonediet.com/EATING/Quic...ault.aspx) at 2 cups as one block was incorrect. The listing has been corrected to 1 cup = one block.

    Thank you for your observation.

Thanks for getting that clarified, CC. Not happy, but okay. I know I shouldn't say this, BUT I will! LOL! I'm still going to have my 1/8 medium to 1/4 small carrot in my salads. I just enjoy it too much! It doesn't make me hungry so I don't think it takes me OOZ.
    Happy Zoning!

I'm actually glad that the spagetti squash is actually one cup per block, because it gets expensive if it's two cups.

Suzy: sounds like it works for you. Wouldn't work for me, I don't think--I've had carrots in the past and learnt I can only have a very small amount of them. Luckily, lotta other foods to enjoy!
