I just bought "Mastering The Zone". Many of the recipes call for tomato puree ... is that the same thing as tomato paste? Also, kale ... what is it?

Puree is not same as paste. Here's a link that explains differences of canned tomato products. http://www.dvo.com/newsletter/month...medy2.html Kale is in the cabbage family, but is more "open leaved" whereas cabbage is like a ball. Here's a picture. Kale is sometimes planted as a decorative plant because it sometimes has purple/white & blue-green leaves. http://www.wholehealthmd.com/refshe...27,00.html

Thank you so much for the helpful links! I was pretty sure kale was in either the lettuce or cabbage family but had never noticed it in the store. Well, now I guess I can get cooking!

Kale is sometimes used as a decorative addition to your meal when you go to a restaurant. Its the bit of greenery with a slice of orange or something that makes the plate look fuller and fancy.

Parsley used to be used universally as a garnish. It served a second purpose. It is also a breath freshner. I would take the parsley when finished a meal and chew on the leaves. I like it better than the sugar mints. Plus no additional unfav carbs unlike the sugar mints. However, I noticed now that many restaurants are not using parsley anymore!
