Hello! I am brand new to this Zone world. I have signs of hypo glacemia, meaning if I don not eat soon enough or, if I do not have protein, I get shaky and light headed. Today I did the following. Breakfast: Yogurt with 1 teaspoon on Fiber cereal flakes Lunch : A small loco salad y 1 leg (no skin) of chicken mixed in Acai Juice 3 hrs later I ate 1 tsp of Peanut butter (natural) by 3:30 I was starving an very light headed. All the information is very overwelming. Can somebody please give me some tips so I do not go under the Hypoglacemic situation with this program? Thank you very much. I weight about 138 lbs and I am 5'5 girl who would like to be 120 lbs. Thanks! |

Hi! Read the info in Quick Start (link at right) about how to put together Zone meals. You are feeling those symptoms because your meals/snacks are not Zone balanced and are causing insulin spikes. Once you stay in the Zone the symptoms will disappear. If you have more questions, feel free to ask! |

Day 4. So far so good, I lost 5 Lbs since last Monday. <img src='desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/smile.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Smile' align='absmiddle'> One thing...I am trying to keep my protein high because o fthe hypoglacemia. Now, I have been experimentinglight headaches and I feel light headed on and off. I guess I might be because of the adjustment that is taking place in my body. What can I do to stop this from happenning? Is the fish oil going tl help? How much should I take? Thanks for all the great advise. |

You're Welcome Marisol!
You may need time to adjust, but you shouldn't be feeling lightheaded. To eliminate thehypoblycemic symptoms, eat the amount of protein for you needs (determine your protein amount with the calculator at the right of this page) and adjust carbs according to Zone recommendations. The adjustment for lightheadedness would be to eat one less carb block with each meal.
If you are healthy and not overweight take 2.5 grams of Omega Rx or Eico Rx each day; if overweight 5 grams a day to start. If you have health concerns (arthritis, neurological concerns, cancer, etc.) you'd increase above those amounts depending upon your situation. |

Well I am 5'5 and as of this morning I weight 30 lbs Not bad! Thanks Zone! I lost 5 lbs since Monday. No mayor healkth issues other than some bone issues. History of Hiper-Parathyroid but that is gone. If I eat a teaspoon of peanut butter it helps but not for long ?? |
