Hi, I am a very new newbie and I haven't started the Zone yet as I have just started reading the 2 books I bought, " Entering the Zone" and "Mastering the Zone" It seems to be a little confusing, but I am going to read them again and hope I understand better. Measuring for the body fat and figuring the blocks is what has me right now! I am 45 years old and 5'1" and weigh 155 lbs! Too big, I know. But hopefully with friends on here to talk to it will help me out!! I am also a 911 dispatcher and I work 12 hr shifts at which right now is the graveyard shift, 6pm to 6am!!! Turns things around for eating also!!! I hope I can figure out how to make menus for me til I get back on the day shift. Also, would it help me to purchase the book about blocks? |

Hi there i'm in Orlando, Florida! been following the zone for about 4 months now. The blocks are confusing i haven't quite figured them out myself. i had a little set back for about amonth but now i'm back on track. I just recently got laid off. That must have been difficult to figure out a eating schedule with working a night shift. i haven't read the book myself. i went to a weight management clinic that taught me about the zone diet. Good luck! |

Hi Brigitte!
You'll find lots of recipes in the EATING tab (see Recipes link at right) as well as here in these forums (especially in the Cooking Tips Forum). In my signature, I have an address to a photo album of my meals and snacks. |

Hi, Brigette, Feel free to peek at the thread that I started. I have been posting some recipes that I have enjoyed throughout the years. And, feel free to post some of yours, too! |

Thanks Sue. I was looking at your forum the other day trying to get ideas. I am getting a little bored, but I can't go back to eating before the Zone. I honestly need some snack ideas. I have a sweet tooth at night now. I have maintained my weight loss and would like to lose some more. I wish I could find something more satisfying. My lunch and dinner for the week is Zoned Lasanga and Crab Bisque. About two weeks ago, I started eating the Cottage Cheese Waffles and fell in love. I would like to have some muffins, but I would like some simpler recipes. Anyone out there know any? |

Hi Brigitte, I am from the Bradenton area and just started the Zone way of eating this last weekend. I do not want to call it a diet but a way of living. I am 5'1" and weigh 176 pounds. Illness, too many hours working and getting married about 5 years ago were contributing factors of my weight gain. I am on track now and am determined to get back to a healthy weight and the Zone is the way to go. I have studied the blocks and feel that I pretty much understand the concept. I use the 1-2-3 method and it seems to be easier for me. The difficult part is keeping a diary and tracking every bite that I put into my mouth. In the past I have given up, but this time I am determined. |

Welcome Betty! I'm in my 15th year of eating in the Zone and I love it! You might want to ease up and consider trying the hand-eye method. There's no block or gram counting involved. It's the way I lost my 100 pounds. Now I do a combo of the block method and the hand-eye method. After eating this way for so long, I automatically think in blocks when it comes to food, without even trying. Sounds like you're off to a great start! Keep us updated. We'll help you keep going so you don't give up this time. :-) |

Hi... I'm in Fort Myers, too, and I'm a newbie. I've just been on the Zone diet for about a week. I've been struggling, along with a lot of others based on what I've read, to get comfortable with the blocks. But I'm determined to give this plan a fair opportunity. Have you lost weight doing this? |

I'm in Fort Myers too! I just started on Zone and doing well. I may have to tweak it a bit though. I think I'm getting too many fruit carbs. I do seem to react badly to them. I've felt bloated since starting. But I'll give it a week and see how things turn out. My energy levels are through the roof! I didn't know I was capable of this kind of energy. So I'm loving it so far. |

Hi, My name is Tammy, and I too am a newbie, since I just found this info online today. It does look like something I could stick with. I'm in Jacksonville, Florida. What area of Jacksonville are you in? I know I would do better if I had someone local to buddy with. |

Hi everybody! I am a newbie too. I am from Palm Bay, Fl. I have a damaged spinal cord(minimal) I can get about half way decent but I am 5'10" male and weigh 240 pounds so the first thing I need to do is lose about 50 pounds. I have started walking but is very difficult because of lower back problems but I am determined to make it work. I just ran across this site today and have been looking over it but have not really done anything with it. I haven't read any books or anything but I am definitely interested in it. |

Hi all, I'm new to the Zone forum, but have been on Dr. Garcia's MediZone program for 9 months. I've just reached my goal weight range, so I'm beginning the transition from the MediZone program to the Zone program next week. I'm VERY inspired by your posts, and also by those of you who have not only achieved your weight-loss goals, but who have maintained your weight-loss -- honestly, in my experience, losing the weight has been easier than keeping it off! I'm happy to learn and share as much as I can, so looking forward to connecting with you! |

I live in Tampa = I'm ending my second week on the zone and I just finished Dr. Sears book and have a better understanding of the diet. I notice a few things 1. the tingling of my fingers has gone away and 2. I don't crave carbs, cake, cookies, etc at all and 3. have not had a hotflash. I'm very happy and I know as I get better with it I'll feel better. |

After completing 4 weeks on the Zone and not losing as much weight on the 4th week as I did on the other 3, I went over my journal and realized that I had bought diet coke and coke zero that week and had one every evening. NO MORE diet soda for me. |

I just started today. One of my favorite dresses did not fit on Sunday. I thought it fit a month ago and realized i need a change. I think it wil be pretty easy if I can get the success journal to print out. If I can track my foods this should be pretty easy. |

Hi, I live in Naples and just started the Zone 2 days ago. I have been hypoglycemic for about 5 years and had gestational diabetes with my now 4 year old child. In the last month, my blood sugar has been completely wonky... I am exhausted all the time, mental fog, irritable, shaky...etc... I am concerned that I have moved into pre-diabetes or type 2 diabetes. I have an appt. with an endocrinologist, but not for another 3 weeks. I heard he recommended The Zone diet to his patients and decided to check it out. I bought the One Week in The Zone book and have been following the 1-2-3 method / eye-palm etc. I was thrilled to find this web site and this forum. I am excited to be able to talk to others who are doing the same thing and are willing to give advice. |

Welcome Sharyn!
I used to suffer daily with hypoglycemic symptoms. Mid to late afternoon was the worst time of the day for me with the symptoms. Many times it would begin mid-morning. Since starting the Zone, the hypoglycemic symptoms are a thing of the past. They remain gone, as long as I continue to eat Zone balanced.
Join in on the discussions here. You'll find lots of helpful info and nice people.

I live north of Orlando. I have yo-yo'd for the past 8 years-weight watchers helped a lot but when i got within reach of my goal weight i stopped. it's very frustrating. i am 40 and i am tired all the time, i don't exercise and i work a stressful job. I need to make a commitment!! It's funny I was watching "Along Came Polly" and I thought, I have always admired Jennifer Aniston's body and I looked her up on the internet and read that she used The Zone. The more I read, the more I thought-I can do this! I ordered the book....I perused the site...I need a change. I am glad I am here! Any suggestions for what other books to read? |
