String cheese? Egg beaters - if not powdered/frozen egg white then what's in it?

Egg Beaters are basically egg whites with some coloring added to make them look like scrambled eggs when cooked. They are cholesterol-free, and come in a pour carton, which makes them convenient (we Americans are all about convenience!) They are also available at many restaurants, which is nice when dining out. Yeah, we're suckers for convenience and packaging. String cheese is a type of low-fat mozzerella that is in a stick form. It peels off into little strings (it's food and entertainment!) and can be found in single-serving packages (1 oz.) which makes it easy to take along with you (again with the convenience!) You can also buy it in bags of many sticks, which is usually cheaper. So, Maigan, where do you hail from? :) Ronica

I wish. they are disaster food in my view, that stuff is like rubber. and "processed" is the operative word. At least its better for the kids than snacking on junk. I have had string cheese and its great fun! Wish I could bring you some back when I go to the states later this year but our quarantine regs wont allow it. Top

I am amazed to hear you can't find string mozzerella cheese down under. It's quite handy since it's packaged in individually wrapped 1-block servings.

It's probably due to the fact that I'm in a country town - we don't get as much variety in some things as you city slickers lol I'm sure the bigger towns have more stuff. But to compensate, I get all the yummy fruit and veg that comes from a tropical and sub tropical region.

Maigen, You may not have string cheese downunduh...but I hear you have a mysterious substance called "vegemite"...? How does that fit into the Zone?? cheers, Lyza

Well as you only scrape it onto things it's definitely Zoneable lol although high in salt. Per 5g: P 1.2 F 0 C 1.0 The only hard part is not having the crackers to spread it on -although Vegemite and cheese it a pretty standard combination. I don't like using it as a flavouring though lots of folks do, I believe.

Hmmm...I'm with you as far as mourning the loss of crackers. I love crackers. One thing I do is add protein powder to a dab of natural peanut butter and eat with my 1/2 an apple for a snack. Pretty good.

Some of the kinds of Ryveta crackers are okay for the maximum of 25% of unfavorable carbs that are allowed. One cracker is 6 grams of carb with no fat. Andrea

We sometimes use Wasa crispbread or Siljans Knacke for our 25%. Pretty good stuff, and keeps me in the Zone,.
