Newby to this forum, not new to the Zone . . . Please forgive me if I'm in the incorrect forum, or if this topic has been beaten to death! - feel free to punt me to the correct location or point me to the correct thread with a slap on the wrist ;-) I've searched my copy of Zone Food Blocks (older) and tried a basic search on this site without success . . . Can someone tell me the correct portion size (#oz for 1 protien block ) for Elk Steaks (Sirloin)? Red Deer? I've located an organic wild game farmer that has the most delicious Elk and Venison, I've been guessing as to block size. Thanks in advance, Paul

Try this site and get out your calculator: http://www.easygourmet.com/nut_page...x_page.htm Use 9 calories per fat grams and subtract the fat calaories from total calories. Divide the number by 4, and this will yield the protein grams. Use 7 grams protein per block to get a protein block count. Remeber since game is leaner than "regular" sources of lean protein so you may need to add a little more fat as well.

Thanks - darn close to 1 oz per protein block for lean ELK loin, broiled, according to your source.
